  • Patent number: 5539511
Abstract: A sheet decurler such as may be used to decurl liquid or solid toned printed or copied sheets. The decurler has an extended multidirectional nip having first and second decurling members for removing multiple curl conditions from a sheet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 1994
Date of Patent: July 23, 1996
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation

  • Patent number: 5357327
Abstract: A system for decurling a sheet which is being advanced in a predetermined path within a printing machine includes a mechanism for generating a flow of room ambient air. The decurling system further includes a mechanism for directing the flow of room ambient air onto the sheet. Moreover, the decurling system includes a decurler adapted to apply mechanical force to the sheet after the flow of room ambient air has been directed onto the sheet by the directing mechanism. Finally, a mechanism is included for rotating the sheet to advance the sheet to the decurler in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of the predetermined path.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 1, 1992
Date of Patent: October 18, 1994
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation

  • Patent number: 4984778
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding sheets has a surface over which a sheet may be fed, a sheet feeder for feeding sheets over the surface having a centerline of feed parallel to the direction of sheet feeding and at least one idler roll to inhibit skewing of a sheet being fed by the sheet feeder which is mounted for rotational contact with a sheet being fed on the centerline of the sheet feeder whereby a torque is not imparted to a sheet being fed in either the clockwise direction. The idler roll has a high frictional contact surface and is mounted to provide a low drag force in the feeding direction and a high lateral drag force to inhibit a sheet being fed from skewing.
