  • Patent number: 7894359
Abstract: A method for distributing information in a network environment is provided that includes receiving one or more packets from a communication flow initiated by an end user and selectively communicating information associated with the communication flow to a network element so that the network element may correlate a source with the communication flow.

  • Patent number: 7860957
Abstract: A system includes a network and multiple network devices. The network devices run instances of various services. If a particular network device becomes inaccessible, the system is capable of replacing the services instances running on the inaccessible network device by initiating new service instances on the remaining network devices. If a new network device becomes accessible, the network is capable of redistributing the currently running service instances to balance the workload by initiating service instances on the new network device and terminating service instances on existing network device.

  • Patent number: 7792128
Abstract: Maintaining a content category cache includes storing the content category cache at a gateway. The content category cache includes content category mappings, where a content category mapping associates content with one or more categories describing the content. A request requesting content for a user is received. One or more categories associated with the requested content are determined from a content category mapping of the content category cache. The requested content is filtered in accordance with the categories.

  • Patent number: 7734770
Abstract: A method for monitoring information in a network environment is provided that includes receiving one or more packets from a communication flow initiated by an end user. The information associated with the communication flow is then selectively communicated to a plurality of client-aware network elements.

  • Patent number: 7657781
Abstract: In a distributed network, a data entry is received. The data entry is stored in a first one of a plurality of nodes and replicated in a second one of the plurality of nodes in order to provide data redundancy in the distributed network. In the event of a failure of the second one of the plurality of nodes, the data entry that was replicated therein is re-replicated into a third one of the plurality of nodes in order to maintain data redundancy despite the failure of the second one of the plurality of nodes. Data redundancy can be retained despite the failure of the second one of the plurality of nodes as long as the overall capacity for the distributed network remains above an initial threshold.

  • Publication number: 20090043839
Abstract: Filtering content according to a filter plan includes receiving a request at a gateway on a data path between a client and a content server. The request requests content from the content server. One or more filter plans are obtained. The filter plans include a user filter plan of a user associated with the client. The requested content is filtered according to the filter plans.

  • Patent number: 7058773
Abstract: A memory system includes a client device and multiple memory devices. The client device communicates an operation request pertaining to a particular data object to one memory device. Referencing a host table, the memory device identifies multiple memory devices associated with an object key of the data object. The memory device communicates the operation request to the identified memory devices to be completed. If one of the memory devices in the memory system becomes inaccessible, the memory system is capable of replacing the inaccessible memory device in the host table. Furthermore, if a new memory device is added to the memory system, the memory system is capable of modifying the host table to associate some of the possible object keys with the new memory device.

  • Patent number: 5448730
Abstract: Method and apparatus for tagging a service request and the responses to a service request in a pipeline program running on a task in a multitasking computer system. Each service request made to a service supplier from a pipeline stage is tagged with a unique identifier string that is automatically returned to the pipeline with the response to the service request. A time manager stage monitors the unique identifiers appended to responses directed into the pipeline and uses the identifiers to correlate each response to a specific, previously sent request. The time manager then directs the responses to the appropriate destination stage. The time manager also discards responses that are no longer needed either because the appropriate destination stage or pipeline is no longer active, or because a user specified time-out interval has elapsed.
