  • Patent number: 4815256
Abstract: A bulk filling station, for dispensing containers filled with a predetermined quantity of a bulk liquid, stores the plastic containers in an empty condition, having hinged closures installed thereon. The operation of filling the containers, individually, is carried out by the subject apparatus, including the steps of feeding and selecting an individual container, positioning the container, opening the closure thereon, filling the container with a predetermined quantity from a bulk supply, closing the container and delivering it to the vending station. The preferred closure incorporates a child-resistant safety lid to permit the dispensing of noxious substances.

  • Patent number: 4794813
Abstract: An improved adjustable control device for multi-lever hydraulic controls on earth-moving equipment, which conveniently and easily positions the control levers to accommodate different operators. The device includes a pair of spaced supports, a pair of axially aligned end members each movably mounted on one of the supports, a main shaft extending between the end members used for pivot mounting of the levers, and a device to adjust the end members on the supports. Parts are positioned and arranged such that end member adjustment moves the main shaft vertically, which in turn moves the range of control lever motion force or aft as desired.

  • Patent number: 4767255
Abstract: A bleed circuit for a backhoe boom cylinder which minimizes cylinder pressure during over-center movement of the boom while permitting the maintenance of sufficient cylinder pressure during other boom operations. The boom cylinder is provided with a retract port, a head end port, and a small bleed port with a bleed line connecting the bleed and head end ports. As the boom cylinder crosses over-center, the fluid pressure in the retract side of the boom cylinder may be transmitted from the rod end to the head end of the cylinder thereby reducing cylinder pressure and improving the over-center controlability of the boom.

  • Patent number: 4624106
Abstract: A pressure-compensating hydraulic system is disclosed for preventing unauthorized use of an associated material handling implement. The system includes a variable displacement hydraulic fluid pump, and a load-sensing pressure-compensator for varying the output of the pump responsively to the pressurized fluid demands of the system. In order to prevent unauthorized use of the associated implement, the invention contemplates the provision of an override mechanism for negating the demand-responsive characteristics of the system. In this manner, a movable member of the implement, such as one of its stabilizers or its loader bucket, is positioned so as to immobilize the implement, with the member thus maintained in this position since the system will not respond to the demand for pressurized fluid to move the member from this immobilizing condition.

  • Patent number: 4609216
Abstract: A door operating mechanism for a cab door of a material handling implement is disclosed which includes a hold-open latch arrangement for conveniently maintaining the door in a partially open position. The operating mechanism includes a selectively operable door latch mechanism mounted on the cab door which cooperates with a latch pin mounted on the cab frame for releasably maintaining the cab door in a closed position. The hold-open latch of the mechanism is pivotally mounted on the cab door for movement between active and inactive positions, whereby in the active position thereof the hold-open latch is releasably engageable with the frame-mounted latch pin. By this construction, the hold-open latch and latch pin can be positioned in cooperating engagement with each other whereby the cab door is maintained in a partially open position.

  • Patent number: 4515520
Abstract: A stabilizer assembly for laterally supporting a construction vehicle of the type having a material handling implement. The preferred embodiments of the stabilizer assembly permit selective positioning of the outboard ends of the stabilizer arms over a wide range of positions from a position immediately adjacent the vehicle wheels and near the longitudinal center line of the vehicle frame to a position substantially outside of the wheels and farther from the longitudinal center line of the vehicle frame. The inboard ends of the stabilizer arms are pivotally secured to a stabilizer anchor which is transversely slidable relative to the vehicle frame on either side of the center line thereof. Various means are disclosed for positioning of the stabilizer anchor relative to the vehicle frame and for retaining the stabilizer anchor in such position.

  • Patent number: 4295287
Abstract: A quick coupling bucket mounting mechanism is disclosed for coupling a material handling bucket, blade, compactor, impact hammer or other attachment to the free end of a scoop arm extending from a loader or backhoe. A quick coupler is provided which is pivotally mounted to the loader scoop arm for readily receiving various types and sizes of attachments. The quick coupler has a three-leg configuration including a pair of bucket mounting legs adaptable for engagement with a bucket mounting pin. One end of each bucket mounting leg has a hook portion which cooperatively locks around lateral projections of the bucket mounting pin. A releasable latch mechanism is pivotally mounted on the third leg of the quick coupler for engagement with a complementary latch pin on the bucket. The latch mechanism is selectively rotatable to two positions. In a first position, it is aligned with and forms an opening which permits the quick coupler to be seated on the bucket latch pin.

  • Patent number: 4143701
Abstract: A novel core assembly is used in a sand mold for casting a hollow section in a coupler head extending beyond a horn line into a coupler shank of a coupler for a railway vehicle. The core assembly includes head and shank core members having face surfaces each including a recess surface and a projected surface arranged such that the recess surface in the head core receives the projected surface in the shank core. In a similar way, the recess surface in the shank core receives the projected surface in the head core to maintain the head and shank cores in an aligned abutting relation while supported in the sand mold. The face surfaces extend transversely to the coupler shank along a parting line spaced rearwardly of the plane containing the horn line of the coupler. The face surfaces are further characterized by a conically-shaped projection extending from one core member into a conically-shaped opening in the other core member to mechanically interconnect and align the two core members.

  • Patent number: 4084705
Abstract: In a railway vehicle coupler, the lock includes a leg portion depending from an upper lock body which is solid. The rear part of the upper lock body has a substantially vertical planar surface or stepped planar surfaces across the most rearwardly-extending surface. A beveled and substantially planar rear face or stepped planar rear faces commence at the lower edge of the vertical planar surface and extends downwardly and forwardly to the lock ledge at the guard-arm side of the lock. Above the vertical planar surface, there is a beveled rear surface with or without a step extending downwardly and forwardly from the rear guide at the knuckle side of the lock to the guard-arm side. This surface extends arcuately and commences at the upper edge of the vertical planar surface and extends to the top of the lock.
