    Abstract: A taxiing system for an aircraft is presented. The taxiing system comprises energy storage locations electrically connected to a number of electric motors, the energy storage locations including at least two of a number of engines of the aircraft, a number of batteries, and a number auxiliary power units of the aircraft; and the number of electric motors connected to wheels of the aircraft to at least one of decelerate the wheels by transferring the kinetic energy of the aircraft into electric energy or drive the wheels using electric energy provided by at least one energy storage location of the energy storage locations.

A tethered grappling unit having deployable arms with catching ropes and Velcro hook strips at the ends thereof is spun and propelled towards the target. On impact, the catching ropes envelop the target and each other. The grappling unit is then reeled in and engages a catching collar containing braking plates to despin the target.
