  • Patent number: 6328588
Abstract: A cable connector comprises a main body, a shielding shell surrounding the main body, and a cover unit covering the shielding shell. The shielding shell includes a top shell and a bottom shell attached together. The top and bottom shells form a number of seating holes. The cover unit includes a top portion and a bottom portion attached together. The top portion forms a first and a second side walls. The first side wall of the top portion forms a cutout and a protrusion. The bottom portion has a first and a second side walls on opposite sides. The first side wall of the bottom portion forms an upwardly extending flange for insertion into the cutout of the first side wall of the top portion, and an upwardly extending latching tab defining an opening for engaging the protrusion of the top portion. The top and bottom portions form a number of seating columns for insertion into corresponding seating holes.

  • Patent number: 6159022
Abstract: A universal electrical connector station includes an upper shell (1), a lower shell (3) and a circuit board (2) with several connectors (21) mounted thereon. Each shell (1, 3) has a body (11, 31) and several side walls (12, 13, 32, 33, 34, 35) extending from edges of the body (11,31). A number of openings (36) are defined in predetermined positions of the side walls (32, 34) for receiving connectors (21) therein. The shells (1,3) form several ribs (17, 39) on inner side walls of the shells (1, 3) for supporting the circuit board (2) at a predetermined position after the upper and lower shells (1, 3) are assembled together. A pair of upper and lower locking structures (14, 38) is provided on opposite side walls (13, 14, 33, 35) of the upper and lower shells (1, 3) in a same direction, respectively, for assembling the upper and the lower shells (1, 3) together.

  • Patent number: 6116942
Abstract: A locking device for an electrical connector comprises an engaging rod defining an outer screw thread thereon for engaging with a bolt of a mating connector defining an inner screw thread therein, and an additional inserting rod inserted into the engaging rod. The engaging rod comprises a through hole and a pair of gradually narrowed slots disposed around an end thereof in communication with the through hole. The inserting rod is inserted into the through hole of the engaging rod to expand the slots whereby the outer screw thread of the engaging rod latchably engages the inner screw thread defined in a screw hole of the bolt thereby securing the electrical connector and the mating connector together.

  • Patent number: 6109961
Abstract: A board lock includes a base section fixed to an electrical device, such as a connector, and an elastically diameter-contractible barrel section extending from the base section beyond a face of the electrical device. The barrel has an external threading. The barrel has a section of nominal diameter substantially equal to or greater than an inner diameter of a hole defined in a circuit board whereby the barrel is elastically contractible to be inserted into the hole which generates a spring-back force driving the external threading to engage with the inner diameter thereby securing the electrical device to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6102735
Abstract: A printed circuit board mounted connector which employs separate fasteners for securing the connector to elongate mounting holes of the board. The fastener has an upper cap and a lower non-circular threaded rod. The insulative housing of the connector has a pair of side flanges. Each flange has a stepped through-hole, consisting of an upper hole for receiving the upper cap of the fastener and a lower non-circular hole for receiving the lower non-circular threaded rod of the fastener, and a number of protrusions on an interior wall of the upper hole. The protrusion has an inclined top surface which assist in a turning movement of the upper cap of the fastener within the upper hole of the flange. The lower non-circular threaded rod is dimensioned to be rotatable about a certain angle within the lower non-circular hole of the flange until contacting and thus engaging an interior wall of the lower non-circular hole.

  • Patent number: 6024603
Abstract: A board lock includes an outer member defining a central hole for receiving an inner member therein. The outer member has a plurality of resilient legs which are expanded by insertion of the inner member. The outer member is received in holes defined in an electrical connector and a printed circuit board. The expansion of the legs causes the legs to engage with an inner surface of the hole of the printed circuit board thereby securing the connector to the printed circuit board. The legs of the outer member are provided with threading which provides an effective and secure engagement between the legs and the hole. Securing the board lock to the circuit board by means of the engagement between the outer member and the inner surface of the hole, together with the resiliency of the legs, allows the board lock to be fixed to holes of different sizes and depths.

  • Patent number: 6019557
Abstract: A process for forming a fastener for use in a D-Sub electrical connector to enable the connector to fixedly connect with a mated connector by threadedly engaging a bolt with the fastener, comprising the following steps:stamping a first metallic plate to have a first face with a number of parallel V-cuts therein, a second opposite face with an elongate flange, and a number of keys above the flange;bending the first metallic plate to obtain a sleeve with the V-cuts forming an internal thread in the sleeve, a circular flange at a lower edge of a peripheral perimeter of the sleeve, and a number of keys above the circular flange;stamping a second metallic plate to form a base having a first hole, a circular protrusion projecting into the hole, and a number keyways in the protrusion; andassembling the sleeve to the base by extending the sleeve through the hole to reach a position in which the sleeve has an interferential engagement with the protrusion, the keys are fittingly received in the keyways, and the circula
