    Abstract: A method of forming a polyethylene (PE) article, comprising optionally providing a first support, assembling a plurality of polyethylene substrates on the first support, the plurality of polyethylene substrates defining a PE construct, applying a second support to the PE construct such that the PE construct is positioned between the first support and the second support, positioning the first support, the PE construct, and the second support proximate a housing, and applying a force to the first support, the second support, and the PE construct such that the first support, the second support, and the PE construct expand to conform to the housing, wherein the housing limits distension of the first support, the second support, and the PE construct beyond the housing such that when the PE construct expands, an PE article is formed.

    Abstract: A method of densifying an expanded polyethylene (ePE) substrate, the method comprising providing an ePE substrate having a first density and a first size, selectively densifying a portion of the ePE substrate to form a densified portion of the ePE substrate, the densified portion of the ePE substrate having a second density that is greater than the first density, the densified portion of the ePE being a densified pattern, and shrinking the ePE substrate to a second size such that the densified pattern is reduced to a fine densified pattern, the second size being smaller than the first size, the fine densified patten being smaller than the densified pattern.

    Abstract: An expandable sheath is disclosed herein, which has a first polymeric layer and a braided layer positioned radially outward of the first polymeric layer. The braided layer includes a plurality of filaments braided together. The expandable sheaths further include a resilient elastic layer positioned radially outward of the braided layer. The elastic layer is configured to apply radial force to the braided layer and the first polymeric layer. The expandable sheath further includes a second polymeric layer positioned radially outward of the elastic layer and bonded to the first polymeric layer such that the braided layer and the elastic layer are encapsulated between the first and second polymeric layers. Methods of making and using the devices disclosed herein are also disclosed, as are crimping devices that may be used in methods of making the devices disclosed herein.

    Abstract: A highly flexible implantable lead that offers improved flexibility, fatigue life and fatigue and abrasion resistance improved reliability, effective electrode tissue contact with a small diameter and low risk of tissue damage during extraction. In one embodiment the lead is provided with both defibrillation electrodes and pacing/sensing electrodes. For defibrillation/pacing leads, the lead diameter may be as small as six French or smaller. The construction utilizes helically wound conductors. For leads incorporating multiple separate conductors, many of the helically wound conductors are arranged in a multi-filar relationship. Preferably, each conductor is a length of wire that is uninsulated at about the middle of its length to create an electrode, wherein the conductor is folded in half at about the middle of the length to create first and second length segments that constitute parallel conductors.
