  • Publication number: 20220081169
Abstract: A capsule for maintaining containment of a substance within a predetermined volume includes a housing having a tubular shape and walls with an inside surface. The housing has at least one open end. A cap is configured to be assembled coaxially to the housing. The cap includes a top and a plug configured to be inside the housing when the cap is assembled to the housing through the open end. An outer surface of the plug is dimensioned to engage an adjacent inside surface of the housing in an interference fit of the cap with the housing. A method for sealing a capsule is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20210055167
Abstract: An improved ultrasonic waveguide for an ultrasonic thermometry system is provided. The waveguide includes a series of sensing zones, each of which is tuned to a specific narrow frequency band. The waveguide is acoustically coupled to a transducer, which launches a longitudinal elastic wave of desired waveform and frequency. The wave propagates down the waveguide, and is reflected from the sensing zone that is tuned to that frequency. Each sensing zone is designed to be highly reflective to a narrow frequency band while being transparent to other frequencies.

  • Patent number: 9216445
Abstract: A machine for asymmetric rolling of a work-piece includes pair of rollers disposed in an arrangement to apply opposing, asymmetric rolling forces to roll a work-piece therebetween, wherein a surface of the work-piece is rolled faster than an opposite surface of the work-piece; and an exit constraint die rigidly disposed adjacent an exit side of the pair of rollers so that, as the work-piece exits the pair of rollers, the work-piece contacts the exit constraint die to constrain curling of the work-piece.

  • Publication number: 20150260454
Abstract: A process for the removal of adsorbed water from the surface of powder materials includes the step of flowing a heated gas over the powder. The temperature of the gas is below the cracking temperature of the water. The gas is inert with the powder. An ultraviolet light is applied to the powder at a wavelength that will pass through the gas, heat the adsorbed water and desorb it, and reflect from the powder. The ultraviolet light has a wavelength between 10-185 nm. Water is removed from the powder with the flowing gas.

  • Patent number: 8875612
Abstract: Disclosed are several examples of apparatuses for suppressing the blast and flash produced as a projectile is expelled by gases from a firearm. In some examples, gases are diverted away from the central chamber to an expansion chamber by baffles. The gases are absorbed by the expansion chamber and desorbed slowly, thus decreasing pressure and increasing residence time of the gases. In other examples, the gases impinge against a plurality of rods before expanding through passages between the rods to decrease the pressure and increase the residence time of the gases. These and other exemplary suppressors are made from an intermetallic material composition for enhanced strength and oxidation resistance at high operational temperatures.
