    Abstract: An exercise machine includes a resistance mechanism supported on a frame; a pulley system having a first end connected to the resistance mechanism and a second end configured for movement by a user performing an exercise motion. The resistance mechanism is configured to resist operation of the pulley system during the exercise motion. A selector mechanism is operable to adjust an amount of resistance provided by the resistance mechanism to operation of the pulley system. A safety locking device automatically prevents the selector mechanism from adjusting the amount of resistance once the resistance mechanism has been engaged by the user via the pulley system.
