Patent number: 10077183Abstract: A refrigerator includes a cabinet defining a fresh food compartment and a door pivotally mounted to the cabinet and including an interior surface in communication with the fresh food compartment when the door is closed. A shelf unit is disposed adjacent the interior surface of the door, and a container is supported by the shelf unit. A fill mechanism is positioned vertically above the container and the container is configured to receive liquid from the fill mechanism. A sensor is configured to sense a property of the container or liquid received in the container. A control is in communication with the sensor and regulates a dispensing of liquid into the container based upon the sensed property. The sensor utilizes a capacitive sensor located adjacent to the container.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2017Date of Patent: September 18, 2018Assignee: Electrolux Home Products, Inc.Inventors: Travis McMahan, Nilton Bertolini, Thomas R. Thompson, Jorge Carlos Montalvo Sanchez, Cornel Comsa

Patent number: 9662101Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for a surgical device. A first paddle assembly may be engaged with a first paddle, and a second paddle assembly may be engaged with a second paddle. A first retainer arm assembly can be pivotally engaged with the first paddle assembly, and a second retainer arm assembly can be pivotally engaged with the second paddle assembly. A retaining key may be selectively engaged with the first and second retainer arm assemblies, and configured to couple the first retainer arm assembly and the second retainer arm assembly together in a pivotal arrangement; where the pivotal arrangement may to allow the first and second retainer arms to be positioned in a retained position with respect to each other; and may also allow the first and second retainer arm assemblies to be positioned in an non-retained position with respect to each other.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2014Date of Patent: May 30, 2017Assignee: Akron General Partners, Inc.Inventors: Thomas R. Patent number: 9557097Abstract: A refrigerator includes a cabinet defining a fresh food compartment and a door pivotally mounted to the cabinet and including an interior surface in communication with the fresh food compartment when the door is closed. A liquid dispenser is arranged on the interior surface of the door, and a container is supported on the door and configured to receive liquid from the liquid dispenser. A sensor is configured to sense a property of the container, and a control is in communication with the sensor. The control is configured to regulate dispensing of liquid into the container based upon the sensed property of the container. In one example, the sensor is resiliently biased into contact with the container to sense a property of the container. In another example, the control indicates a stale liquid condition if a timer expires before the container has been removed from the door.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2015Date of Patent: January 31, 2017Assignee: ELECTROLUX HOME PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: Travis McMahan, Nilton Bertolini, Thomas R. Patent number: 8219369Abstract: A method determines overlap regions by identifying a face on a first component part of an assembly that is less than a specified gap distance from a face on a second component part of the assembly. The method is also for determining if a minimum width of each of one or more the overlap regions exceeds a specified maximum value, and if the minimum width of an overlap region does not exceed the specified maximum value, determining a guide curve along a centerline of the overlap region. If the minimum width of an overlap region exceeds the specified maximum value, the method is further for determining two or more guide curves along an offset of two or more edges of the overlap region. The method also is for determining one or more joint locations along the guide curve or curves based upon one or more parameters.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2009Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignee: Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Sofrware Inc.Inventors: Thomas R. Thompson, Jr., Anthony J. Salerno

Publication number: 20090326877Abstract: A method for determining overlap regions by identifying a face on a first component part of an assembly that is normal to and less than a specified gap distance from a face on a second component part of the assembly is provided. The method also is for determining one or more joint locations along the guide curve or curves based upon one or more parameters, and displaying the one or more joint locations using symbols or solid objects to represent the one or more joint locations.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2009Publication date: December 31, 2009Applicant: Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software Inc.Inventors: Thomas R. Patent number: 4932729Abstract: A refrigerator cabinet includes an outer metal shell supported on a separate base member having inwardly extending upper and lower flanges. The upper flange is secured to the bottom of said shell and a U-shaped bracket member is mounted in each corner of said base member to have an intermediate vertical portion abutting the vertical wall of said base member while upper and lower wall portions of the bracket member extend adjacent the upper and lower base flanges. A door is mounted on the front of the cabinet by hinge means including a lower hinge bracket which is clamped by fasteners through the base front wall to the intermediate portion of the bracket member. The lower wall of the bracket member serves to support a threaded leveling leg, while the upper wall of the bracket member serves to give pivotal support to a roller carrier which may be raised and lowered by an adjusting screw extending through the front wall of the base.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1989Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Assignee: White Consolidated Industries, Inc.Inventors: Thomas R. Patent number: 4916864Abstract: A gasket assembly for refrigerator or freezer doors includes a retainer and a flexible gasket. The retainer is mounted along the periphery of the door by screws which extend through the retainer, through the periphery of a door liner and into the door shell. Therefore, the mounting of the retainer also mounts the liner on the door. The retainer cooperates with the door to provide an outwardly open channel and provides an oppositely extending shoulder. The retainer is mounted on the door prior to the installation of the gasket, so full access is provided, permitting automated assembly. After the retainer is mounted, the gasket is installed by positioning an inwardly extending projection within the outwardly open channel and snapping a hooklike projection over the shoulder extending along the inside of the retainer. The gaskey provides a magnetic cavity containing a strip magnet and supported by flexible walls. A flap along the interior of the gasket engages the liner.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1989Date of Patent: April 17, 1990Assignee: White Consolidated Industries, Inc.Inventor: Thomas R. Thompson
