  • Publication number: 20190253951
Abstract: A relay node is configured to discover a route between a route origination node and a route destination node in a mesh communication network. The relay node in this regard generates a route request message that requests a route from the route origination node through the mesh communication network to the route destination node. The relay node transmits the route request message via unicast or broadcast, depending respectively on whether a routing table at the relay node has or does not have an entry indicating a known route to the route destination node.

  • Publication number: 20180198752
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and arrangements in a private address resolving node of a personal area network deploying Bluetooth low energy, BLE and in particular to methods and arrangements for proactively resolving periodically updated private addresses. When performed in a private address resolving node of a personal area network deploying Bluetooth low energy, BLE, a method comprises resolving a periodically updated private address of a private address generating node connected to the private address resolving node. The private address is used in addressing messages from the private address resolving node to the private address generating nodes.

  • Publication number: 20180041861
Abstract: An advertising wireless device (110) broadcasts (202; 802) an advertising message over a wireless communication link (115). The advertising wireless device receives (203a; 803), from an advertisement responding device (120-1), a request message that was sent by the advertisement responding device (120-1) at a certain point in time in response to the broadcasted advertising message. Said certain point in time being randomized within a listening time period during which the advertising wireless device (110) listens for a response to the broadcasted advertising message and is able to receive the request message.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. The example method further includes, in the same wireless device, receiving, in a first subframe, a first Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission formatted according to a first numerology and receiving, in a second subframe, a second OFDM transmission formatted according to a second numerology, the second numerology differing from the first numerology. Variants of this method, corresponding apparatuses, and corresponding network-side methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20170149658
Abstract: A method in a relay device for forwarding messages in a mesh based network comprises receiving a message to be forwarded (step 201), and determining whether the message is to be forwarded using a routing profile associated with the message (step 203). If so, the message is routed according to a routing profile (step 205). If not, the message is outed using a flood procedure (step 207).

  • Patent number: 8738000
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for indicating problems data from, typically automatically, entered cell relations is compared to site location information and mobile measurements, if available. An indication of a possible problem is triggered if the comparison indicates that the cell added as neighbors are not suitable as defined by one or many threshold functions. In accordance with one embodiment method of problem indication generation in a cellular radio system is provided. An apparatus receives a neighbor cell relation entries and site location information. The received information is compared and a problem indication is generated if the comparison indicates that cells entered neighbor cells are not close to each other as defined by at least one threshold values.

  • Patent number: 8213353
Abstract: This document proposes soft activation and inactivation of (network) repeaters that are, for example, activated on an as-needed basis. With soft activation, repeater gain ramps upward at a controlled rate, thereby avoiding rapid changes in interference caused by the repeater. Likewise, with soft inactivation, repeater gain ramps downward at a controlled rate. Soft activation/inactivation results in more gradual changes in the interference contribution of the repeater, thereby improving the performance of interference-compensating radio receivers operating in proximity to the repeater.

  • Patent number: 6822948
Abstract: In a mobile communication network (SYS) data transmission between a radio base station (RBS) and a subscriber station (UE) is carried out by successively transmitting frames. The radio network controller (RNC) inserts at the beginning of the respective frames an indicator flag (MOP) indicating to the subscriber stations (UE) whether the frame or a succeeding frame contains data which must be read and decoded by the subscriber stations (UE). The subscriber station can by reading and decoding the indicator flag (MOP) determine that there is no necessity to read data from the present frame or a succeeding frame and can therefore use the time period of one or more frames to save network resources or to perform inter-frequency measurements on another frequency. The invention finds particular application in a WCDMA mobile communication system.

  • Patent number: 6721278
Abstract: In a cellular telecommunications system, a method of dynamically allocating packet data radio channels among users competing in a same cell for the channels involves determining a user ranking for each of plural competing users in the cell, and classifying each of the plural competing users into one of plural ranking classes. A number of the packet data radio channels available for each of the ranking classes is then determined, after which the users within each ranking class are sorted by ranking. The packet data radio channels are allocated to the users by sorted position within ranking classes. The user ranking for each of the plural competing users in the cell is related to a weighted combination of plural measures of performance for the user.

  • Patent number: 6628946
Abstract: In a cellular telecommunications system or network, tags are associated with one or more system control parameters. For example, a given tag value may be indicative of particular values for one or more system information parameters. In each cell, a base station (BS) transmits or broadcasts currently valid tag values. System information blocks including the system information parameters themselves (which correspond to particular tag(s)) are also broadcast by base stations. A mobile station receiving a valid tag value from a base station determines whether or not it has to read system information block(s) corresponding to that tag value depending upon whether the base station has already stored or cached such block(s) corresponding to the tag value. As will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, different embodiments of the instant invention may result in the mobile station not having to re-read identical system information each time it changes cells, or while moving in the same cell.

  • Patent number: 6628956
Abstract: Delays on a common radio communications channel employed by plural mobile stations to communicate with a base station located in a corresponding geographical cell area are minimized by adapting transmission power based on traffic conditions. For lower traffic loads, a higher transmission power is permitted. For higher traffic loads, a lower power level is set. A transmit power level is determined using a desired signal ratio, such as a target CIR, a transmission path loss over the radio communications channel, and an interference value. One or more adaptive power parameters are also employed in that determination to adapt the open loop power control based on one or more current communications conditions and/or characteristics of the mobile station. For example, an adaptive power parameter may be a function of a current interference in a base station cell either alone or in combination with a current interference in one or more neighboring cells.

  • Patent number: 6594238
Abstract: In a mobile communications system that provides packet data services, a packet data connection is established between a mobile station and a radio access network. The state of the connection specifies one of plural different types of radio channels bearing the connection over the radio interface. The connection state preferably also may specify other parameters including for example, one of plural different mobility management schemes tailored to the selected channel type or channel bit rate(s). The connection is dynamically adapted to an optimal state based on one or more conditions relating to the connection. For example, one or more traffic parameters are determined for the connection and used to predict a future value of that parameter. Based on the predicted parameter value or values, an optimal connection state is determined and implemented.

  • Patent number: 6594245
Abstract: A method and system enables high data-rate users to be serviced even from within congested cells. If a user that is associated with an MS is located within a first cell that is too congested to provide the bandwidth requested by the user, all or a part of the information flow to/from the MS may be transceived from/to other nearby cells. For example, in a TDMA system, a user requiring three time slots per frame in order to aggregate sufficient bandwidth may be in communication with three different cells during each frame. The present invention may additionally be applied in the context of handoffs when, for example, an MS continues to be partially served by the previous cell before the new cell is able to service the high data-rate information flow. In another embodiment, the present invention may be implemented in a local wireless network environment in which multiple radio heads are controlled by a HUB.
