  • Patent number: 11839417
Abstract: A device and a method for coagulation and/or dissection of biological tissue is disclosed. The device comprises an apparatus and an instrument electrically connected thereto. The instrument includes an operation circuit with a manually operated switch. An evaluation circuit of the apparatus provides an evaluation signal for the instrument. The apparatus can create a supply voltage or a supply current for the instrument. In the initial condition the evaluation signal comprises only one polarity. The evaluation signal is provided to a control circuit of the instrument in which a characteristic of the evaluation signal is adjusted depending on the operating condition of the switch. The evaluation circuit detects this characteristic and initiates the output of the supply voltage and changes the polarity of the evaluation signal according to the requested cutting mode. In the cutting mode the evaluation signal comprises at least temporarily also a second polarity.

  • Patent number: 11648050
Abstract: An instrument for coagulation and dissection of biological tissue including a tool with coagulation electrodes and at least one cutting electrode. The electrodes are actuated via an operating circuit including an evaluation circuit, to which an external apparatus delivers an evaluation signal with first and second half-waves having opposite polarities. During at least one first half-wave, the evaluation circuit checks whether a first switch or a second switch are actuated on the instrument. Depending on the evaluation result, a triggering signal is transmitted to a switching unit. Depending on the triggering signal, the switching unit is switched into a first or second switching state. In the second switching state, no voltage suitable for dissection and no current suitable for dissection, respectively, is applied to the cutting electrode. In the first switching state, a voltage suitable for dissection or a current suitable for dissection is applied to the cutting electrode.

  • Patent number: 10443620
Abstract: The example embodiments are directed to a heat dissipation system for an electric aircraft engine. In an example, the aircraft engine includes an electric system configured to power an engine fan to provide thrust to an aircraft, the electric system including cooling channels to receive a coolant to cool one or more components of the electric system, a power source to power the electric system, and one or more guide vanes connected to the cooling channels of the electric system and configured to receive the coolant heated by and output from the cooling channels, wherein the one or more guide vanes are further to cool the heated coolant and transfer the cooled coolant back to the cooling channels of the electric system. By dissipating heat from electric system via the guide vanes, the cooling system can provide sufficient cooling without adding additional drag to the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 6244051
Abstract: The invention relates to a burner for combustors of gas turbines, the burner having an atomizer nozzle for atomisation of fuel in the combustion air and having a primary and secondary flow channel. In the burners, mostly used in aircraft engines, an extensively homogenous distribution of the air-fuel mixture is to be achieved in the combustor to reduce emissions. The flow channels opening into the combustor are separated from a first component arranged concentrically in relation to the burner axis and having a sleeve-shaped atomizer lip extending cylindrically or conically, and the external secondary flow channel is bounded externally and radially by a second annular component arranged concentrically and having an internal wall extending to converge and diverge. The second component forms an area with the most narrow flow cross-section, and the first component is arranged radially inwards and ends with the atomizer lip at the axial height of the cross-section or upstream thereof.

  • Patent number: 6202420
Abstract: A pre-mixing combustion chamber (8) for a gas turbine is disclosed which includes a main stage with at least one pre-mixing chamber and a combustion chamber fashioned at least partly dynamically balanced relative to its longitudinal axis with a main combustion zone (3) and an after-combustion zone (5) placed downstream, whereby the at least one pre-mixing chamber discharges into the combustion chamber in the region of the main combustion zone tangentially producing twisting action. The pre-mixing chamber also includes a pilot stage (4) with a pilot injection means, whereby the main combustion zone in the combustion chamber proceeds essentially coaxial to the after-combustion zone, and the pilot stage is arranged at that end of the combustion chamber remote from the after-combustion zone.

  • Patent number: 5473882
Abstract: A combustion chamber apparatus 1 for a gas turbine has a pilot stage and a main stage for low-emission lean-burn operation. The pilot stage is separate from the main stage and is formed by a flame tube 2 with an upstream first fuel injector 3a and with a secondary combustion zone 7a. The main stage includes a vaporization chamber 4 and a combustion chamber 5, and a second fuel injector 3b is provided at an upstream end of the vaporization chamber 4. The vaporization chamber 4 produces a homogenous fuel-air mixture which will not burn until it is in the combustion chamber 5. In lean-burn operation of the apparatus, the separate arrangement of the two chambers 4, 5 significantly reduces the formation of nitrogen oxides. For use in aircraft gas turbine engines, the apparatus has an annular shape with several main and pilot stages.
