  • Patent number: 4383343
Abstract: A foot supporting strap for beds including a strap detachably secured to the frame of or other parts of a bed. Means are associated with the strap for spacing the strap from the mattress thereby to form a space into which the feet of the patient can at least partially extend. The strap thus provides a brace against which the feet of the patient can push to permit movement of the patient to a more comfortable position.

  • Patent number: 4227271
Abstract: A foot supporting strap for beds including a strap having fastening means secured to the ends thereof and to the frame of the bed for detachably mounting the strap to the frame. Means are provided on the underside of the strap for spacing the strap from the mattress whereby in the regions adjacent the spacing means there is formed a space into which the feet of the patient can at least partially extend. The strap thus provides a brace against which the feet of the patient can push to permit movement of the patient to a more comfortable position.

  • Patent number: 4214168
Abstract: A traffic signal having a light which includes lens means formed with perforations extending through the lens means and arranged in a predetermined pattern whereby light transmission through the lens means in accordance with the pattern facilitates recognition of the signal by oncoming motorists. The perforations are formed in the lens itself or in a cover member or cap for the lens. The invention is particularly useful for color-blind persons or persons who have impaired vision. In one form of the invention a plurality of the signals are arranged on a traffic standard with sequentially actuated lights, while in a second form the signal is mounted on the rear portion of an automobile to supplement or replace the conventional taillights.

  • Patent number: 3998325
Abstract: A reel band for securing the free end of a roll of motion picture film, magnetic tape or the like, comprising a strip of flexible polyvinyl chloride having an electrostatic charge. The charged band is of approximately the same width as the film or tape and is wrapped around the outer convolution of film or tape and pressed into secure contact. The electrostatic charge on the vinyl band causes the band to cling to the film or tape and to itself, thereby rigidly holding the outer convolutions of film or tape in position.

  • Patent number: 3963883
Abstract: A device for preventing the unauthorized use of a telephone for surveillance purposes when the telephone is not in use, consisting of a sound-proof housing of sufficient size as to completely enclose the telephone and its handset. The sound-proof housing has means for acoustically isolating the enclosed telephone from reception of outside sounds when it is closed. Further means are provided to generate sounds within the sound-proof housing when it is closed and the telephone is not in use, so as to prevent surveillance of those sounds which might penetrate the housing.
