  • Patent number: 6425621
Abstract: The invention relates to a convertible motor vehicle roof having a front roof section and a rear roof section, each roof section being pivotally mounted on the vehicle body by a lever mechanism. The rear roof section is mounted so as to pivot over the front roof section, and can be lowered jointly with the front roof section into a back stowage space or area in the motor vehicle. The rear roof section being supported with a pivoting capacity on at least one of the front roof section and the lever mechanism. Preferably, when the motor vehicle roof is in a closed position, at least one of the lever mechanism and the lever for the front roof section are located substantially vertical in an area of one side front edge of the front rear roof section.

  • Publication number: 20020084678
Abstract: A convertible motor vehicle roof, especially for hatchbacks or pickups, with at least one roof part which is supported to move lengthwise on the side roof members and when the roof is being opened, can be moved into the storage position. The roof part or roof parts can be moved onto a roof unit or rear unit before lowering of the roof into a storage space. The storage space compactly accommodates the roof part or the roof parts arranged stacked therein so that due to the reduced space requirement, the possibilities for movement and storage for the movable and storable roof parts on the motor vehicle body are improved.

  • Patent number: 6382701
Abstract: A drive device for a swivelling component that is pivotally mounted, for example, on a motor vehicle. The swivelling component is connected to a drive via a coupler which can be swivelled by the drive. The coupler having a connector which is connected via a connecting rod to the swivelling component. The connector can be driven by the drive and is movably supported along a guideway. To achieve uniform transfer of motion the guideway is a curved guide rail that is circular with the center of the circle lying on the axis of rotation of the swivelling component or is a three-dimensional curve.

  • Publication number: 20020030381
Abstract: A lowerable roof (1) of a hard-top convertible (2) with a front roof element (3), a middle roof element (4) and a rear roof element (5) which can all be moved out of a closed position which covers the motor vehicle interior (6) by a bearing mechanism into an open position in which they are deposited on top of one another in a rear-side convertible top storage compartment (9). The front roof element (3) is movably supported on the middle roof element (4), and the front roof element (3) can be lowered or raised by a carrier mechanism (17) which supports the front roof element (3) on the middle roof element (3) when the roof (1) is being moved to over or under the middle part (4) by a lengthwise guide means (29).

  • Publication number: 20020024231
Abstract: A convertible vehicle roof (1) has a front roof part (3) and a rear roof part (4) which are mounted movably on the body of the vehicle and which can be put away into a roof storage space (20). The front roof part (3) is supported by means of a pivot-bearing device (9, 13) which is mounted displaceably on a guide device (16) fixed on the vehicle and which, during the opening and putting away of the front roof part (3), moves along the guide device (16) and in the process lowers the front roof part (3) into the roof storage space (20). The front roof part (3), when lowered into the roof storage space (20), can be arranged in an obliquely set or substantially vertical swung orientation.
