  • Patent number: 6536117
Abstract: The invention relates to portable handheld work apparatus including a brushcutter, edge cutter or the like. The work apparatus has a drive motor (1) and a cutting tool (2) driven by the drive motor. The work apparatus includes a guide tube (3) for guiding a drive shaft (4) as well as a handle (5) fixed on the guide tube (3). The drive shaft (4) connects the cutting tool (2) to the drive motor (1). The handle (5) is in the form of a handle bracket (8) and can be pivoted about a pivot axis (7) lying transversely to the longitudinal axis (6) of the guide tube (3) for adjusting the distance (a) of the handle to the guide tube (3). A spring action handle bracket holder (22, 23) is mounted between the handle bracket (8) and the guide tube (3). The handle bracket holder is especially vibration dampening and extends with a component in the direction of the longitudinal axis (6).

  • Patent number: 6305867
Abstract: A connection is provided for the sections of a separable guide tube and of a drive shaft disposed therein. Shaft sections of the drive shaft are interlockingly coupled together, wherein the ends of the shaft sections interengage one another. One of the shaft sections has an insertion end having a rotationally symmetrical non-circular cross-sectional configuration. A drive sleeve is coaxially secured to the other shaft section and has a coupling cross-sectional configuration that corresponds to the insertion end. Which is introduceable into the driving sleeve. An axial introduction adapter is provided on the driving sleeve and has at least one inwardly projecting introduction ramp, which extends over an angle of curvature between two adjacent large diameters of the coupling cross-sectional configuration of the driving sleeve. The introduction ramp includes an axially decreasing ramp surface that forms a shoulder for the insertion end.

  • Patent number: 6108865
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable handheld blower/vacuum apparatus having a housing and a blower scroll formed in the housing. An impeller is provided in the blower scroll. Air is supplied to the blower scroll via an air inlet and air is directed away from the blower scroll via an air outlet. An air-conducting connecting tube is mounted on the air outlet via a housing-fixed connecting stub. A bayonet connection is provided in the overlap region between the connecting tube and the connecting stub. The bayonet connection includes a guide path lying in the overlap region. The guide path includes an axial segment and a peripheral segment connected thereto in which a radial cam of the other part engages. The cam is secured form tight by a latch connection in the peripheral segment of the guide path to ensure a reliable, mechanically loadable attachment of the connecting tube in the connecting stub.

  • Patent number: 5704257
Abstract: A securing mechanism for securing a drive shaft of a rotating tool member of a working tool against rotation includes a securing member fixedly connected to the drive shaft. The securing member has at least one engagement opening. A lock bolt for engaging the at least one engagement opening is provided. The lock bolt is axially displaceably positioned in the housing of the working tool. A spring for biasing the lock bolt into engagement with the at least one engagement opening is provided. An actuating element for displacing the lock bolt from an engaged position, in which the lock bolt engages the at least one engagement opening, into a disengaged position, in which the lock bolt is removed from the engagement opening, is provided. The actuator element is positioned adjacent to the lock bolt and has a cam member extending into the travel path of the lock bolt.
