Publication number: 20240069175Abstract: Disclosed are a method and apparatus for calibrating a sensor. An object is placed in a field of view of the sensor at a known location. The object is moved (e.g., rotated) in a known manner. Data from the sensor is processed to detect an object image moving in the known manner. An apparent location of the object is determined from the object image. The apparent location is compared to the known location of the object to determine an offset. The offset is stored and used to adjust future detected locations of objects.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2022Publication date: February 29, 2024Applicant: Trimble Inc.Inventors: Thomas Sterling, Brandon Sights

Publication number: 20230419681Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for automatically optimizing radar filter parameters. In embodiments, radar sensor data is captured from a radar sensor on a moving machine/vehicle. The radar sensor data is filtered using radar filter parameters to produce filtered radar sensor data. Radar obstacle points are produced from the filtered radar sensor data. Lidar sensor data is captured from a lidar sensor on the moving machine. Lidar obstacle points are produced from the lidar sensor data. The radar filter parameters are optimized using the lidar obstacle points.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2022Publication date: December 28, 2023Applicant: Trimble Inc.Inventors: Juan Cheng, Thomas Sterling, Ulrich Vollath, Brandon Sights

Publication number: 20220204740Abstract: A method of combining rubbers and plastics when injection molding, and compositions usable in injection molding, are shown and described. Comminuted rubber from waste tires and waste plastics including any of high density polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and polypropylene are combined and heated to melt at least the plastics. In one optional approach, both are melted. Plastics comprise from twenty to eighty percent by weight of the mixture, with rubber accounting for the balance. The mixture may be fortified with bonding, compatibilizing, and strengthening agents. The compositions may be cooled and pelletized for immediate use in injection operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2020Publication date: June 30, 2022Inventor: Thomas Sterling Mackie, JR.

Patent number: 10902441Abstract: A computer-implemented technique can process overhead images of users in a line at a venue to obtain a user wait time for the line. The processing can include (a) identifying a user of the group of users that is second in the line to obtain a target user, (b) detecting when the target user becomes first in the line to obtain a start time, (c) after the target user becomes first in the line, detecting when the target user leaves the line to obtain an end time, (d) determining a period from the start time to the end time, and (e) calculating the user wait time by calculating a product of (i) the determined period and (ii) a quantity of the group of users in the line after the target user leaves the line. The calculated user wait time can then be output.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2020Date of Patent: January 26, 2021Assignee: WaitTime, LLCInventors: Zachary Klima, Thomas Sterling, John Mars, Jr., Doyle Mosher

Publication number: 20130054654Abstract: There is disclosed a computer-implemented GIS and method for collecting data and identifying, registering and tracking agricultural and food-related properties by type and use. Agricultural and food-related properties are identified by cross-referencing the real estate database with various agricultural group databases maintained by one or more agricultural producer groups or organizations. The real estate database and the various agricultural group databases are merged to produce a GIS of agricultural and food-related properties identified by type and use, with accurate location and boundaries and all relevant ownership and contact information.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2011Publication date: February 28, 2013Inventors: Brian Thomas Sterling, Nicolas Robert Albu
