  • Publication number: 20240376000
Abstract: A method of heating solids in a reactor to produce a heat-treated material, such as a cementitious, a supplementary cementitious, or a pozzolanic material, includes conveying the solids through the reactor from a feeding end to a discharge end so as to form a material bed extending from the feeding end to the discharge end; heating the solids during the conveying to at least 600° C. to transform the solids into the heat-treated material, wherein the heating includes applying radiative heating to the material bed from above and/or from the sides, wherein the radiative heating contributes at least 60% of the thermal energy needed for the heating, and wherein the material bed is mobilized during the conveying in order to renew the surface of the material bed that is exposed to the radiative heating.

  • Patent number: 11578920
Abstract: An arrangement for supporting a rotary drum, the rotary drum having at least three riding rings distributedly arranged along the axial direction of the rotary drum, the arrangement including a pair of relatively spaced rollers for supporting a riding ring, at least one bearing for each roller, a support for each bearing mounted for movement of the roller toward and away from the shell of the rotary drum and a spring system exerting a spring force acting on the support to counteract the weight of the rotary drum resting on the rollers, wherein the spring system includes a pressure vessel charged with a compressed gas that exerts the spring force and the rotary drum includes at least three riding rings and only at least one middle ring arranged between two outer rings is supported by a pair of relatively spaced rollers that are equipped with the spring system.

  • Patent number: 10254045
Abstract: A method for detecting straightness deviations and/deformations in a rotary kiln, the rotary drum of which features bearing rings spaced apart from one another in the axial direction and respectively supported on rollers, the outer surface area of the rotary drum, the bearing rings, involves scanning the rollers and/or the shafts of the rollers in a contactless fashion with the aid of at least one scanning device and obtaining three-dimensional position data regarding the scanned object(s), and evaluating three-dimensional position data with respect to the occurrence of a deviation of (a) the rotary kiln axis from a straight line, (b) the rotary drum from a cylindrical shape and/or (c) the rotational axes of the rollers from a line extending parallel to the rotary kiln axis. A device for detecting straightness deviations and/or deformations in a rotary kiln, at least one scanning device and a rotary kiln so equipped are provided.
