  • Patent number: 10167811
Abstract: A static gasket configured for establishing a seal between a cylinder head and an engine block including at least one layer having an opening and at least one compression bead. The compression bead extends circumferentially about the opening and projects out of a plane for deforming elastically when the gasket is compressed between the cylinder head and the engine block. A compression limiter which is formed from a metal wire is disposed radially between the opening and the compression bead for preventing the compression bead from being fully flattened, even if the cylinder head is overloaded onto the engine block. The compression bead is preferably induction and/or resistance welded to at least one of the layer(s).

  • Patent number: 10094329
Abstract: A metal static gasket and method of construction thereof is provided. The gasket includes at least one metal layer. At least one of the metal layers has opposite sides with at least one through opening extending through the opposite sides, with the through opening being configured to register with an opening to be sealed. At least one metal layer of the gasket has least one raised annular seal bead extending adjacent the through opening. A plurality of protrusions extend outwardly from at least one of the opposite sides, wherein the plurality of protrusions are formed from separate pieces of metal from the at least one metal layer and are individually fixed to the at least one metal layer via separate bond joints.

  • Publication number: 20180087666
Abstract: A radial shaft seal assembly for establishing a seal to separate an oil side from an air side of the assembly is provided. The assembly includes a metal case having a cylindrical wall with an annular leg extending radially inwardly from the cylindrical wall. A primary seal lip is operably attached to the metal case. The primary seal lip is configured for running contact with a rotatable shaft member to separate the oil side from the air side. A debris exclusion member including an annular retainer with a plurality of elongate bristles fixed thereto is fixed to one of the rotatable shaft member or the metal case, wherein the bristles extend radially free ends, with a clearance gap being established between the free ends and the other of the rotatable shaft member and the metal case.
