  • Patent number: 6874529
Abstract: The invention concerns a level limit valve for the fuel tank of a vehicle. Such valves serve the purpose, that upon the filling of the fuel tank, the filled quantity of the fuel is limited. The proposed level limit valve possesses a valve body 1 which can be positioned within the fuel tank at the end of a filling pipe. The valve body is equipped with an intake port 22 which is connectable with the said filling pipe and an outlet port 21 emptying into the interior of the fuel tank. Further, in the valve body 1 is found a flap 4, which is pivotally movable between a position tightly sealing the outlet port 21 and a position wherein this is opened. The float 3 is movably connected to said flap 4 by means of a lever rod 5. The lever rod 5 penetrates the outlet port 21 at least in the opened position of the flap 4 and is connected by means of linkage with that outer side 28 of the flap 4 which is proximal to the outlet port 21.

  • Patent number: 6408903
Abstract: A fuel intake assembly for a vehicle fuel tank is provided. The fuel intake assembly has a closure flap which opens and closes the intake opening. A sealing element and a seat on one or another of the closure flap and the fuel intake fitting cooperate to seal the fuel intake in a closed position. An apparatus is affixed to the closure flap which seals and locks the closure flap to the fuel intake fitting to prevent unwanted opening of the fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 6289947
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for filling a fuel tank (2) with a filling conduit (4). The fuel flow entering the tank is directed by a through flow sensor (53) in order to control and monitor the filling process. A particularly suitable tank system (1) for implementation of said method comprises a fuel tank (2), a filling tube (3) surrounding a filling conduit (4) and discharging into said fuel tank, an adsorption filler (6) connected to the gas area (8) of the tank (2) and a through-flow sensor (53) which detects the flow of fuel in the filling tube (2).

  • Patent number: 5892149
Abstract: A heat transfer indicating device for monitoring and/or measuring a flowing medium, especially a flow indicator and/or a flowmeter, with a preferably flexible component carrier (1), with electrical and/or electronic components (2) on the component carrier (1) and connected to one another to form a circuit, with a heating element (3), with temperature measuring element (4), with electrical connection (5) and with a housing. The flow indicator can be produced with relatively low cost, is relatively simple to mount, and can be easily re-opened again so that it can be repaired in case of a defect and the parts not affected by the defect can be re-used, by the fact that component carrier (1) is formed of two component carrier halves (1a, 1b) located on top of one another and between which the heating element (3) and temperature measuring element (4) are located.

  • Patent number: 5740842
Abstract: A fuel tank arrangement for a motor vehicle. The arrangement includes a fuel tank containing fuel therein and having a gas space disposed above the fuel, and a venting device connected to the fuel tank. The venting device includes an activated charcoal filter and a venting conduit connecting the gas space to the activated charcoal filter for establishing gas communication therebetween. A stop valve is disposed in the venting conduit and is adapted to open gas communication between the gas space and the activated charcoal filter during refueling. Moreover, a fuel separator is disposed in the venting conduit for separating fuel from a gas flow through the venting conduit thereby yielding separated fuel.
