  • Patent number: 9222044
Abstract: Methods for producing low oxygen biomass-derived pyrolysis oil are provided. Starting biomass-derived pyrolysis oil is deoxygenated by exposing the biomass-derived oil to a first catalyst in the presence of hydrogen-containing gas at first hydroprocessing conditions to produce a partially deoxygenated biomass-derived pyrolysis oil. The first catalyst has a neutral catalyst support. The partially deoxygenated biomass-derived pyrolysis oil is exposed to a second catalyst in the presence of additional hydrogen-containing gas at second hydroprocessing conditions to produce a hydrocarbon product. The biomass-derived pyrolysis oil may be esterified prior to deoxygenation. A portion of the low oxygen biomass-derived pyrolysis oil is recycled.

  • Patent number: 9222373
Abstract: A method of operating a combined gas and steam turbine system is provided. The system includes a gas turbine, a waste heat steam generator with an evaporator heating area, and a steam turbine. Fluid is fed to the waste heat steam generator as feed water. A primary control loop controls a feed water flow rate. Taking into account heat stored in the evaporator heating area, a primary desired value for the feed water flow rate is determined based upon a desired overheating value characteristic of a temperature by which the fluid exceeds a boiling point as the fluid exits the evaporator heating area and based upon a heat flow parameter characteristic of a heat flow transfer from fuel gas to the fluid via the evaporator heating area. The desired overheating value is lowered from a first value to a second value in order to activate an instantaneous power reserve.

  • Patent number: 9225721
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to providing secure access to resources of a private network. For example, a client device may transmit a request identifying the protected resource to an authentication server. The authentication server queries a network address lookup table to identify a network address of the protected resource based on the identifying information of the request. If the network address denotes a network location that is not generally accessible, the authentication server generates a resource record that identifies a bastion host, a port, and a connection method for accessing the protected resource. The resource record and the network address may then be transmitted to the client device. In response, the client device may use the information in the resource record to establish a tunnel connection with the bastion host, and the client device uses the tunnel connection to access the protected resource via the bastion host.

  • Patent number: 9221651
Abstract: A sheave bracket directs a trailing cable of a mining vehicle. The bracket is hingedly secured to the vehicle and includes a plate and a plurality of sheaves coupled to and extending from the plate. The sheaves are arranged to guide the cable. The sheave bracket also includes a force control mechanism movable between two positions to adjust tension in the cable. The force control mechanism dampens strain in the cable when the direction of the bracket is changed.

  • Patent number: 9224145
Abstract: A system for tracking copyright compliance comprises a database, the database including unique identifiers for a plurality of content capture devices. The unique identifiers may be obtained from devices prior to the presentation of protectable content, for example, by pre-registration during the process of obtaining a ticket to a performance or at a security checkpoint at an event. The unique identifiers may be associated with a copyright policy pertaining to content at the event. Each device may embed its unique identifier in content captured by the device, such as via a watermark. Software may obtain data embedded in content and access the database to determine the copyright status of the content by sending a request including data identifying the capture device. If content is obtained from an unauthorized source, the content may be traced back to a specific device.

  • Patent number: 9223693
Abstract: A flash memory system having unequal number of memory die and method for operation are disclosed. The memory system includes a plurality of flash memory die distributed unevenly among different control lines, such that there are an unequal number of die between control lines. A total physical capacity of the plurality of flash memory die is greater than a total logical capacity such that the memory system is over provisioned with physical capacity. A logical address splitter directs data received from a host system and associated with host logical block addresses such that each control line only receives data associated with predetermined host logical block address ranges and directs the data such that a ratio of physical capacity to logical capacity is equal among each of the control lines, regardless of the different number of die and associated different physical capacity per control line.

  • Patent number: 9221316
Abstract: Roll stabilizers as an example for chassis actuators are used for compensating or suppressing rolling movements of a vehicle about its longitudinal axis. Such rolling movements are caused, in particular, when driving around curves due to centrifugal forces. A chassis actuator device is provided, in particular, a roll stabilizer, for a vehicle with a flange connection between an actuator and a stabilization component. A holder-side positive-locking contour is arranged on a holder section of the flange connection and a flange-side positive-locking contour is arranged on a flange. The positive-locking contours together form a positive-locking connection in the circumferential direction about a torsion axis A, and the flange-side positive-locking contour is arranged on a flange-side lateral surface and/or the holder-side positive-locking contour is arranged on a holder-side lateral surface.
