Abstract: A computer-implemented method of generating a map view includes accessing a dataset having multiple records and multiple fields. One or more of the multiple fields are identified as geographical fields. Geographical codes are automatically associated with a first one of the identified geographical fields. A geographical map is generated for the dataset. Generating the geographical map includes generating a first plurality of marks on the geographical map. The first plurality of marks is positioned on the geographical map in accordance with the geographical codes associated with the first one of the identified geographical fields.

Abstract: A system for detecting intrusion into a space which includes motion detection light structure for producing and projecting a light pattern formed by a plurality of light beams of a certain character into a space and video motion detecting structure including a video camera having a field of view including at least some of the light pattern to detect intrusion into the light pattern. When motion is detected, images of the video camera are transmitted for threat assessment, and a scene illumination light is activated to improve visibility during nighttime operation.

Abstract: A wire gripper for positively locking a wire in place between an overhead support and a suspended load such that it can support the suspended load and maintain tension on the wire. The wire gripper includes an elongated body with a through bore and a threaded bore intersecting the through bore. Two open channels extend through the body parallel with and on either side of the threaded bore. A threaded fastener extends into the threaded bore. A U-shaped clip member with two legs is carried by the threaded fastener. By passing one or more wires through the through bore and tightening the fastener, six points of contact can be brought to bear against the inserted wires and thereby lock the wires with respect to the wire gripper.

Abstract: According to aspects illustrated herein, there is provided a user interface system for preparing an output document of a digital printing device having a user interface, a set of output options for the output document. The user interface enables selection of at least one output option from the set of output options. The system further provides a display device operatively connected to the user interface and configured to display at least one user interface mimic for the output document, with the at least one user interface mimic providing a graphical representation of the output document based on selection of the output options. After displaying the at least one user interface mimic, the user interface allows users to modify the output options prior to printing the output document. Then, the system updates the display of the at least one user interface mimic, based on modifications to the output options, prior to printing the output document.

Abstract: A photoacoustic detector wherein a detector response transfer function can be measured at various times under predetermined conditions during the life of the detector. One or more of the time related transfer functions each can, when acquired, be compared to the stored initial transfer function established at initial manufacture and calibration of the detector. Span and baseline correction values can be determined. These values can be used to compensate detected output values during normal operation. Time related transfer functions can be compared to each other as well as to the stored initial transfer function.

Abstract: Winding device with which a tube produced in a rolling installation can be wound up outside the rolling installation. The tube which has already left the rolling installation is coiled or wound up in such a winding device for transport purposes. The disclosed device and method make it possible for the tube in the finished shaped condition to be put into a transportable state downstream of the roll stand while still other portions of the tube are at the stage of the tube shell or are just being shaped. For that purpose a winding device for a tube produced in a rolling installation comprises a bending device for curving the tube so that it can be wound in a spiral shape around a first axis, and a holding frame, wherein the bending device is mounted to the holding frame pivotably about a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis.

Abstract: The present invention presents methods to alter the genetic composition of crop plants susceptible to nematode infection to improve tolerance to the same. Methods and compositions for modulating key pathways involved in the syncytial event of nematode infection and for preventing the cascade of differential gene expression caused by the same as disclosed. Applicants have found that the microRNA miR396 acts as a master switch of syncytial gene expression changes in plants after infection, and further that miR396 and certain growth regulating transcription factors (GRF) are connected through feedback interaction in syncytium initiation and maintenance.

Abstract: A method of eliminating background noise from a system for authenticating security markers includes capturing an image of a background of the security marker; illuminating the security marker; capturing a plurality of images of the optical response of the security marker; averaging the plurality of optical response images; smoothing the background image; and subtracting the smoothed background image from the average of the plurality of optical response images.

Abstract: Absorbent members and methods of making the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the absorbent member is a unitary absorbent fibrous web having a density profile through its thickness. In such an embodiment, the density profile may be relatively centered through the thickness of the web and the maximum density of the web is located between about 35% and about 65% of the distance through the thickness of the web.

Abstract: An oven is provided including an oven cavity and an outlet duct for receiving exhaust gas from the oven cavity. The oven further includes a flow control device attached to the outlet duct. The flow control device includes a damper assembly positioned at least partially within the outlet duct. The damper assembly is movable with respect to the outlet duct. The flow control device further includes a drive unit attached to the damper assembly, the drive unit selectively moving the damper assembly between a closed position in which the damper assembly blocks a flow of the exhaust gas through the outlet duct and an opened position. The oven further includes a control system for controlling the damper assembly.

Abstract: In a communication system, a plurality of communication entities can establish a plurality of communication links that can potentially interfere with each other. A control of the communication system involves repetitively carrying out a probabilistic parameter setting step for respective communication links. In such a probabilistic parameter setting step, a parameter setting to be applied to a communication link is randomly determined according to a probability distribution. This probability distribution is such that a probability that a particular parameter setting is applied decreases with, on the one hand, a relative level of interference that the communication link is expected to experience from other communication links if the particular parameter setting is applied and, on the other hand, a relative level of interference that other communication links are expected to experience if the particular parameter setting is applied.

Abstract: A coolant pumping system for a mobile electronic system includes a coolant reservoir containing a coolant, a heat exchanger member fluidly connected to the coolant reservoir, and a mass moveably mounted to the mobile electronic system. The mass is moved along at least one axis in response to at least one of accelerations and orientation changes of the mobile electronic system. The coolant system further includes a force transfer member operatively connected between the mass and the coolant reservoir. The force transfer member urges the coolant from the coolant reservoir through the heat exchanger member in response to movements of the mass. A gear member is operatively connected between the mass and the force transfer member.
