  • Publication number: 20190138390
Abstract: A data protection technique combines error correcting code and redundant array of independent disk functionality for a non-volatile memory (NVM) array of a data storage system. The technique includes receiving, by a controller, data for storage in the NVM. In response to receiving the data for storage in the NVM array, the controller forms first component codewords based on encodings with a first level code of respective first portions of the data. In response to receiving the data for storage in the NVM array, the controller forms a second component codeword based on an encoding with a second level code of a second portion of the data and the first component codes. The controller stores a respective portion of each of the first and second component codeswords on packages of the NVM array. The storing achieves maximum equal spreading of each of the component codewords across all of the packages.

  • Publication number: 20190140746
Abstract: A quasi-optical coupling system launches and extracts surface wave communication transmissions from a wire. At millimeter-wave frequencies, where the wavelength is small compared to the macroscopic size of the equipment, the millimeter-wave transmissions can be transported from one place to another and diverted via lenses and reflectors, much like visible light. Transmitters and receivers can be positioned near telephone and power lines and reflectors placed on or near the cables can reflect transmissions onto or off of the cables. The lenses on the transmitters are focused, and the reflectors positioned such that the reflected transmissions are guided waves on the surface of the cables. The reflectors can be polarization sensitive, where one or more of a set of guided wave modes can be reflected off the wire based on the polarization of the guided wave modes and polarization and orientation of the reflector.

  • Publication number: 20190140643
Abstract: A delay circuit includes an electronic transmission element with a first input and a first output. The first input is coupled to the first output by two first switches wired in parallel. The first switches each have a control input, a second input and a second output. The second input is coupled to the second output by two second switches wired in parallel. The circuit further includes an input circuit to receive an input signal and feed the input signal to one of the transmission element inputs and feed the inverted input signal to the other of the transmission element inputs, and an output circuit. The output circuit is configured such that the output signal only changes in the case of a change in the input signal if the change in the input signal has brought about a change both at the first output and at the second output.

  • Publication number: 20190138452
Abstract: A control circuit for controlling memory prefetch requests to system level cache (SLC). The control circuit includes a circuit identifying memory access requests received at the system level cache (SLC), where each of the memory access requests includes an address (ANEXT) of memory to be accessed. Another circuit associates a tracker with each of the memory access streams. A further circuit performs tracking for the memory access streams by: when the status is tracking and the address (ANEXT) points to an interval between the current address (ACURR) and the last prefetched address (ALAST), issuing a prefetch request to the SLC; and when the status is tracking, and distance (ADIST) between the current address (ACURR) and the last prefetched address (ALAST) is greater than a specified maximum prefetch for the associated tracker, waiting for further requests to control a prefetch process.

  • Publication number: 20190141087
Abstract: A system is described for setting up videoconferencing between a user 1, 3, 5 and an agent 13, 23, 33 with little or no downloads and configuration. A director 500, 1500, 2500 receives requests from users 1, 3, 5 on computing devices 200, 400, 700 for videoconferences through a website. A connection ID device 520 receives input from the user 1, 3, 5 as to which connection application 210, 220, 410, 710, 720 the user 1, 3, 5 is using. A platform selection device 530 then uses lookup device 531 to find compatible videoconferencing format of the connection application 210, 220, 410, 710, 720 in a compatibility table 533 and determines which video hosting platform 7, 9, 11, 12 employs this compatible videoconferencing format. A linking device 540 then sends a link to the video hosting platform 7, 9, 11, 12 to the user's computing device 200, 400, 700 and agent's computing device 300, 600 to connect and videoconference.
