  • Publication number: 20080035265
Abstract: The present invention is a process for making an intermediate transfer member. The process includes forming an endless belt by seaming two ends of a substrate material to form a seam. A smoothing layer is applied on top of the endless belt using a rotary cast process wherein said intermediate transfer member has a continuous seamless top surface. In a preferred embodiment the endless belt is formed by adhering at least two layers of a substrate to form a belt having an inner and outer seam.

  • Publication number: 20060062590
Abstract: Preventing the imaging forming process of an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus having a plurality of imaging modules in tandem relative to a receiver transport belt moveable along a transport path from becoming contaminated with fuser release oil. A substantially uniform layer of the pigmented marking particles from the development subsystem of the image forming process is deposited onto the photoconductive member of the image forming process during any non-imaging cycles of the process, including cycle down, non-imaging skip frames, or recovery from a receiver jam. The substantially uniform layer of pigmented marking particles acts as a barrier to block fuser release oil from the photoconductive member and as a vehicle to carry away contaminating fuser release oil.

  • Publication number: 20050244168
Abstract: Method and apparatus for validating that a fuser member presumptively belongs to a class of fuser member for imparting a certain surface finish to an electrophotographic output print, and/or validating that the fuser member has a heating behavior within specification. Utilizing a temperature-sensing device for measuring temperature of the fuser member during heating thereof, a validation number is computed for comparison with a range of validation numbers associated with the class. If the validation number is included in the range, membership in the class is confirmed and/or the fuser member is shown to be within specification. Additionally, an auxiliary measuring device can be associated with the fuser roller to generate signals for computing, from measurements of a temperature-dependent property of the roller, a validation number relating to the temperature-dependent property.

  • Publication number: 20050207807
Abstract: UV-glossing for simplex and duplex prints, wherein an input member having thereon a pre-gloss toner image including UV-curable toner is moved, in non-slip association with a smooth UV-transparent web, jointly with the web through a plurality of process zones sequentially including a heating zone and an exposure zone, thereby producing an output member having a glossed, UV-cured, surface. In the heating zone, at least the outermost toner of the pre-gloss toner image is heated to a molten state in contact with the web. In the exposure zone, with the molten state being maintained, at least the outermost toner which contacts the web is cured by a flux of UV radiation transmitted through the web. In a preferred embodiment, the UV-curable toner is formed as an outer layer on the pre-gloss toner image.

  • Publication number: 20050163527
Abstract: A cleaning member for mounting around a support in an electrophotographic machine, the support being located peripherally adjacent at least one electrophotographic process device having a surface cleanable by the cleaning member, the cleaning member including a substrate supporting a cleaning agency. The cleaning member is activatable to clean via motion, which can include longitudinal movement and/or rotary movement around the support's longitudinal axis. The cleaning agency can include one or more cleaning agents selected from the following categories: brush, pad, blade, woven material, fabric, cloth, rubber, sponge, and foam. A surface cleanable by the cleaning member can be located on one or more of the following: lens array of a LED writer, charger grid, corona wire, blade, erase lamp, developer pickup scavenger device, densitometer or electrometer sensor, or retractable rotatable process device adjacent the support.
