  • Patent number: 7966841
Abstract: A mass and heat exchanger includes at least one first substrate with a surface for supporting a continuous flow of a liquid thereon that either absorbs, desorbs, evaporates or condenses one or more gaseous species from or to a surrounding gas; and at least one second substrate operatively associated with the first substrate. The second substrate includes a surface for supporting the continuous flow of the liquid thereon and is adapted to carry a heat exchange fluid therethrough, wherein heat transfer occurs between the liquid and the heat exchange fluid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 14, 2007
Date of Patent: June 28, 2011
    Assignee: AIL Research, Inc
Inventors: Andrew Lowenstein, Marc J. Sibilia, Jeffrey A. Miller, Thomas Tonon

  • Patent number: 5824927
Abstract: Improved performance and versatility of a free-reed instrument by linking a key of the instrument to a variable geometry chamber, which provides modifications in musical tones. The instrument can be an accordion or other free-reed instrument, and a passageway of the chamber is manipulated to alter the combined pitch and timbre of the tones.

  • Patent number: 5326252
Abstract: A self contained catalytic heating device within which a fuel/oxidizer mixture and combustion products are held out of physical contact with a heated medium, allowing the temperature of the catalytic material to be maintained at a level that is independent of the temperature at the surface in contact with the heated medium; materials and geometric dimensions can be chosen to achieve required temperatures for catalytically coated surfaces and heating surfaces, for example in a tubular construction.

  • Patent number: 4680616
Abstract: Removal of defects from semiconductors by applying a reverse bias potential to the semiconductors and irradiating the semiconductors with photon energy greater than their bangap energies.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 9, 1986

  • Patent number: 4588373
Abstract: A catalytic stove is provided comprising a mixing chamber having one end adapted to receive a fuel can and an opposite end provided with a diffuser. A plate provided with a grid of between 200 and 400 openings per square inch extends across the exit end of the diffuser. A catalytic surface is coated on the exit portion of the plate. The catalyst is selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, rhodium and iridium.
