  • Publication number: 20140343221
Abstract: A powder coating composition includes fluoro-modified polyurethane (meth)acrylate. The fluoro-modified polyurethane (meth)acrylate is prepared from an isocyanate component, a hydroxy-C2-C4-alkyl (meth)acrylate and an alcohol component comprising a perfluoroalkyl alcohol that are reacted stoichiometrically with one another, providing the powder coating composition a fluorine content (calculated as elementary fluorine with molecular mass 19) in a range of about 0.1 to about 3 wt %, the wt % based on the total weight of the powder coating composition The powder coating composition based on the fluoromodified polyurethane (meth)acrylate provides a highly improved flow, chemical resistance and particularly an improved and sustainable self-cleaning effect of the coatings.

  • Publication number: 20100305267
Abstract: A process for the preparation of powder coating compositions, which (i) comprise a binder and at least one additive, the process comprising the synthesis of the binder in a reactor and the at least one additive being added to the starting materials used for synthesis of the binder and/or added to the still stirrable reactor contents before discharging the reactor contents from the reactor, or (ii) comprise a binder, a crosslinker and at least one additive, the process comprising the synthesis of the crosslinker in a reactor and the binder and the at least one additive being added to the starting materials used for synthesis of the crosslinker and/or added to the still stirrable reactor contents before discharging the reactor contents from the reactor.

  • Publication number: 20050100685
Abstract: A process for the production of a clear top coat layer on automotive bodies comprises the following steps: a) spray application onto at least portions of the precoated surface of the automotive bodies, that are not directly accessible to an external observer but are in principle accessible to spray coating, of a clear coat layer from a clear coating composition A curable by free-radical polymerization of olefinic double bonds on exposure to UV radiation, b) spray application onto the outer surface, finished in color-determining manner, of the automotive bodies, which surface is directly accessible to an external observer and to spray coating, of a clear coat layer from a clear coating composition B curable by free-radical polymerization of olefinic double bonds on exposure to UV radiation, and c) curing of the clear coat layers by UV radiation-induced, free-radical polymerization of olefinic double bonds, wherein the clear coating compositions A and B, differ from one another (1) by having a higher content of
