  • Patent number: 10167756
Abstract: A muffler for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing with a circumferential wall. At least one resonator chamber (48) is defined by the circumferential wall and two base walls (28, 22), that are provided in the housing. At least one resonator pipe (50), with a first pipe end (51) and with a second pipe end (56), is connected to one of the base walls (28) in the area of a first opening (52) in the one of the base walls (28). In the alternative or in addition the one of the base walls (28) traverses an interior space such that the first pipe end (51) lies outside of the resonator chamber (48), with the second pipe end (56) being fixed to the other base wall (22).

  • Publication number: 20170321473
Abstract: A spacer for insulating glazing units is presented. The spacer has a polymeric main body with features that include a first pane contact surface, a second pane contact surface, a first glazing interior surface, a second glazing interior surface, an outer surface, a first hollow chamber, and a second hollow chamber. A groove to accommodate a pane is formed between the first glazing interior surface and the second glazing interior surface, with the first hollow chamber being adjacent the first glazing interior surface and the second hollow chamber being adjacent the second glazing interior surface. Lateral flanks of the groove are formed by walls of the first and second hollow chambers.

  • Patent number: 7874401
Abstract: An exhaust muffler (1) is provided for an at least partly dual-flow exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, especially of a motor vehicle. The exhaust muffler has a housing (2), which encloses an interior space (3), with two exhaust pipes (6), through which exhaust gas can flow in parallel, and which are each led through the interior space (3), and which have a side opening (8) each within the housing (2). A neck body (9) connects the two side openings (8) of the exhaust pipes (6) in a communicating manner to form a Helmholtz resonator with the interior space (3) of the housing (2), which interior space (3) acts as a resonance volume (12).

  • Publication number: 20070102236
Abstract: The present invention relates to a muffler for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. To be able to suppress at least two different frequencies or frequency ranges in a comparatively inexpensive design, the muffler has a housing in which at least two resonator chambers are separated from one another. At least two branch pipes branch off from an exhaust-carrying pipe in a branch section. These branch pipes open into different resonator chambers. The respective resonator chamber forms a Helmholtz resonator with the respective branch pipe, each resonator differing from the others in their different resonance frequencies.
