  • Patent number: 7727555
Abstract: Particles and related methods are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of making particles can include forming a stream of a mixture including first and second materials, exposing the stream to a vibration, and treating the stream to form particles. The vibration can have, for example, a sinusoidal, triangular, and/or sawtooth waveform.

  • Patent number: 7611542
Abstract: A method of treating tissue includes placing substantially spherical polymer particles in the tissue. The particles include an interior region having relatively large pores and a first region substantially surrounding the interior having fewer relatively large pores than the interior region.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 1, 2006
Date of Patent: November 3, 2009
    Assignee: Boston Scientific SciMed, Inc.

  • Patent number: 7588825
Abstract: Embolic compositions and methods of delivering the compositions are disclosed. In some embodiments, an embolic composition includes a first collection of particles having a first shape, and a second collection of particles having a second shape different than the first shape.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 4, 2003
Date of Patent: September 15, 2009
    Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.
Inventors: Barbara Bell, Thomas V. Casey, II, William J. Shaw
  • Patent number: 7556643
Abstract: An endoluminal self-expanding prosthesis for placement in a blood vessel, duct or lumen, to hold it open. The prosthesis includes a stent with a graft extending within the stent. The stent is an elongated self-expanding stent with an open tubular wall structure. The graft is an elongated compressible generally tubular graft. One end of the graft is secured to the inside of the stent and the graft extends therethrough. The stent is deployed allowing the free flow of blood through the open-celled structure, and the graft is freely deployed secondarily within the stent by the blood flowing therethrough. The present invention is not subject to significant distal migration during delivery and placement of the prosthesis.
    Type: Grant
