  • Patent number: 11593723
Abstract: A monitoring system is disclosed for acquiring output activity, utilization capacity and/or effluent data from an facility on a facility-by-facility and/or an industry-by-industry basis. The system is designed to generate a plant and/or industry output activity database that is updated on a continuous, near continuous, periodic and/or intermittent basis so that subscribers are apprised of changes in plant or overall industry output. A clearing house is also disclosed for distributing the acquired data to subscribers to aid in analyzing, predicting trends, pricing, maintaining, adjusting, minimizing, and/or maximizing individual plant or overall industry output.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 28, 2023
    Inventors: Jack Nuszen, Thomas Vo
  • Patent number: 10453971
Abstract: A new technique for sensing optical cavity mode mismatch using a mode converter formed from a cylindrical lens mode converting telescope, radio frequency quadrant photodiodes (RFQPDs), and a heterodyne detection scheme. The telescope allows the conversion of the Laguerre-Gauss basis to the Hermite-Gauss (HG) basis, which can be measured with quadrant photodiodes. Conversion to the HG basis is performed optically, measurement of mode mismatched signals is performed with the RFQPDs, and a feedback error signal is obtained with heterodyne detection.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 27, 2018
Date of Patent: October 22, 2019
    Assignee: SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY
Inventors: Fabian Magaña-Sandoval, Stefan Ballmer, Thomas Vo, Daniel Vander-Hyde, Jax Sanders

  • Patent number: 8598846
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a device and method for stabilizing a battery pack, wherein the battery pack stabilization device has a by-pass circuit to prevent individual cell overcharge. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to an efficient balancing and monitoring system for use in an electric vehicle that utilizes nickel-zinc-based batteries. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a device that permits over-voltage protection as well as the ability to monitor cell voltage. In still another embodiment, the present invention provides a method to coordinate multiple packs of cells within a vehicle so a driver could be aware of possible distance and time parameters, as well as a monitoring or alert system to inform the driver of reduced power, thus preventing damage to the cells.
