  • Publication number: 20040108833
Abstract: A system has an adapter/charger to receive power from a power source and output a first DC power signal. A universal battery receives the first DC power signal directly from the adapter/charger and to supplies a second DC power signal, and the universal battery includes at least one battery cell chargeable by the first DC power signal. A power tip receives the second DC power signal and outputs a third DC power signal useable by an electronic device. • Patent number: 6707284
Abstract: A progammable power supply for providing a regulated DC output power is disclosed. The power supply provides the output power to any one of a plurality of electronic devices adapted for receiving the output power at an operational voltage or an operational current. The power supply receives a programming signal to maintain the output power at the operational voltage or operational current associated with a particular selected electronic device. Accordingly, by varying the programming signal, the power supply can be programmed to provide output power to any one of several electronic devices having differing input power requirements.

  • Publication number: 20030228792
Abstract: A cradle casing has a DC/DC adapter to receive DC power from a DC power source and generate a first DC power signal. A sleeve accepts an AC/DC adapter, and guides movement of the AC/DC adapter when the AC/DC adapter is inserted into the cradle casing. The AC/DC adapter is capable of receiving AC power from an AC power source and generating a second DC power signal. A circuit receives at least one of the first DC power signal and the second DC power signal and outputs a third DC power signal.

  • Patent number: 6266261
Abstract: A secondary adapter for receiving a DC power signal and providing an ouput power signal as an input to an AC power adapter is disclosed. The AC power adapter may then provide a DC power signal to meet the input power requirements of an electronic appliance. While the AC power adapter is adapted to receive power from an AC power source, the secondary adapter converts a DC power source to provide an input power signal which is sufficient to power the AC power adapter. The secondary adapter enables the AC power adapter to provide power to the electronic appliance from either an AC power source or a DC power source.

  • Patent number: 5949213
Abstract: A system and method for charging rechargeable batteries is disclosed. A charging circuit monitors aspects of a rechargeable battery during charging and applies power to the terminals of the battery received from a power supply. The charging circuitry signals to a power supply to control the current or voltage applied to the charging circuitry based upon the monitored aspects of the battery and the type of charge storing compound within the cells of the battery. The charging circuitry and battery may be part of a rechargeable battery cartridge disposed within a compartment of a portable electronic device having a dynamic operational load. By controlling the power supply, the charging circuitry can simultaneously apply power to the operational load to operate the device while charging the battery.
