  • Patent number: 4410841
Abstract: In a patterned screen color cathode ray tube (CRT) display, for example, a shadow-mask type color CRT, particularly for use under a wide range of ambient light conditions, such as an aircraft cockpit, incompatibilities between the screen pattern character, the type of writing (such as stroke and raster), and the display linewidth, may result in stroke written lines which appear as a twisted fiber rope and in raster written areas which appear wavy or watery; that is, a moire appearance. Both of these effects vary in accordance with the required display brightness over the ambient light range due to variations in beam or linewidth with corresponding variations in the required cathode drive voltages.

  • Patent number: 4302708
Abstract: An efficient cathode ray deflection amplifier is provided having a selectable scan rate capability, providing sweep rate linearity through the use of a feed back arrangement that also cooperates in a self-adaptive manner with respect to commanding changes in the raster scan rate or display size.

  • Patent number: 4297621
Abstract: A cathode ray dual mode electromagnetic beam deflection amplifier system for providing current for driving a deflection coil, and means for switching between linear and resonant non-linear operational modes. In the linear mode, the deflection coil current is controlled to closely follow an applied input deflection sweep voltage and operates as a push-pull amplifier. In the non-linear resonant mode, one-half the output stage is abruptly decoupled from the deflection coil such that energy stored in the deflection coil is discharged into a series capacitor, the subsequent resonant pulse being returned through the non-decoupled half of the output stage to a power supply.

  • Patent number: 4297618
Abstract: A compensating gain control system provides improved operation of the deflection channels of cathode ray color displays, particularly a display of the penetration phosphor type. A sample of the indicator anode voltage is taken and the square root of the sample is derived. Each deflection current wave form is multiplied by the square root signal, thus providing a deflection drive current accurately scaled to anode voltage changes.

  • Patent number: 4281272
Abstract: An efficient switching power supply provides power for penetration phosphor cathode ray tube color displays employing rapidly selectable high voltages for anode or acceleration electrodes. The apparatus employs a serially connected command decoder, a voltage regulator, a power oscillator, and a voltage multiplier along with an output voltage divider for supplying a fed back voltage to the regulator for comparison purposes. Positive transitions of the high voltage output are directly accomplished in the power oscillator-voltage multiplier serving as a unidirectional voltage to unidirectional voltage converter. The apparatus is further supplied with a signal lever detector responsive to the voltage regulator and employing a switching oscillator to control the conductivity state of a pull down switch coupled in shunt with respect to the anode voltage line.

  • Patent number: 4258298
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for effecting automatic dynamic compensation of the focal characteristics of electron beam tubes having substantially flat viewing faces, compensation in terms of two dynamic inputs including low frequency components primarily representing display brightness and high frequency components primarily representing electron beam displacement.
