  • Patent number: 10156232
Abstract: Provided is a high frequency oscillating ventilator comprising a housing assembly, a linear actuator, a linear coil, a piston mounted on a pushrod, a diaphragm dividing a housing into a first and second side and having an opening formed on the second side that is fluidly connected to the patient's airway for delivering gas thereto. The linear actuator is fixedly mounted to the housing assembly and has a linear coil coaxially disposed therewithin. A pushrod supports the linear coil on the linear actuator to allow relative axially sliding therebetween. The piston is directly mounted to the diaphragm such that reciprocation thereof as effectuated by the linear coil cooperating with the linear actuator alternately produces positive and negative pressure waves in the gas in the patient's airway.

  • Publication number: 20120192862
Abstract: A system and method of controlling the administration of a medical substance is disclosed. An aerosol generator is configured to aerosolize a medical substance and administer the aerosolized medical substance to a patient using a ventilator. The patient is provided with a patient control interface through which the patient initiates the administration of a dose of the aerosolized medical substance. A processor is configured to control the ventilator and the aerosol generator in response to the patient control interface such that the patient controls the administration of the aerosolized medical substance in accordance with limits on the administration of the medical substance.

  • Publication number: 20100224192
Abstract: The present invention advantageously provides a method of automatically delivering oxygen to a patient. A desired concentration of oxygen in a bloodstream of a patient is received from a user. Data, including a measurement of the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream of the patient, as well as status information associated with the measurement, is received from a sensor. The measured data are determined to be valid or invalid based on the measurement value and the status information, and, based on this determination, a delivered fraction of inspired oxygen is delivered to the patient. If the measured data are determined to be valid, then the delivered fraction of inspired oxygen is based on the desired oxygen concentration and the measured data. On the other hand, if the measured data are determined to be invalid, then the delivered fraction of inspired oxygen is set to a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 7126091
Abstract: A substrate for use in a vacuum chamber has a workpiece supporting surface that has two or more mutually electrically insulated bifilar conductors configured as interleaved spirals disposed on it. Each of these bifilar conductors has a respective electrode at each of its two ends. This provides an electrostatic chuck for clamping a workpiece to the supporting surface when an electric voltage is applied between the two bifilar conductors or between one of the two bifilar conductors and an insulating workpiece. This arrangement also provides for electric heating of the workpiece when an electric voltage is applied between the two electrodes associated with one of the bifilar conductors. Moreover, when the electrical resistance of at least one of the bifilar conductors is known as a function of temperature, this arrangement allows one to sense the temperature of a workpiece supported on the substrate.
