  • Publication number: 20050267421
Abstract: A catheter cleaner comprising a head, rod, and a handle is provided. The head, rod and handle may be fixedly attached to each other such that manipulation of the handle may also control movement of the head, both in the linear direction as well as a rotational movement. The head may define a tip and cutting edges. The tip may have a curved configuration which may be operative to assist in the insertion of the cleaner into and indwelling catheter and, the cutting edges may be operative to dislodge debris from an inside wall of the indwelling catheter. Moreover, the tip may be used to push against debris lodged or attached to the inside wall of the indwelling catheter to dislodge the same.

  • Publication number: 20050224712
Abstract: A device for improving vision of a person, having a camera and a display. The camera has an image sensor operative to capture an image of a predetermined area in front of the person, and an image processor operative to compress the image. The display is operative to reproduce the compressed image. Preferably, the image sensor is effective to detect infrared light, and an infrared illuminator is incorporated to radiate an infrared light upon the predetermined area. Therefore, even in the dim-lit condition, the predetermined area can be properly imaged. However, as the infrared image is barely visible to human eyes, a wavelength shifter is used to translate the compressed image with infrared wavelength to visible wavelength before the compressed image is displayed by the display.

  • Publication number: 20050200500
Abstract: A colorblind driving aid installable in a motor vehicle for improving color discrimination of a traffic light. The colorblind driving aid has a detector, a processor and a display. The detector is operative to detect a traffic light within a predetermined distance and preferable at a predetermined angle of sight. The processor is operative to process the traffic light detected by the detector into a form with improved color discrimination. The traffic light processed by the processor is then displayed by the display to the driver of the motor vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20050104319
Abstract: Disclosed is a wheelchair for transporting a patient. The wheelchair comprises a support frame having a front, a rear, and opposing sides with the front and rear facing in respective forward and aft directions and the opposing sides facing in opposing lateral directions. The wheelchair further comprises at least two main wheels mounted on the support frame and a seat base disposed upon the support frame between the main wheels. The seat base is configured for selectively raising and lowering the patient between a first level and a second level with the aid of at least one security beam disposed adjacent one of the main wheels. The security beam may have a substantially vertical orientation and may be configured as a hand hold for steadying the patient when transferring onto and off of the seat base.

  • Publication number: 20050091060
Abstract: There is provided a digital hearing aid for increasing recognition of a voice in an ear. The hearing aid features a body member which is sized and configured to be engaged to the ear. A microphone is engaged to the body member for receiving an analog signal that defines the voice. Furthermore, a microchip is implanted within the body member for converting the analog signal from the microphone into a digital signal. This microchip is operative to modulate the digital signal by reducing a frequency thereof below a prescribed frequency level. The microchip is additionally operative to reconvert the digital signal back into the analog signal for delivery into the ear below the prescribed frequency level, hence increasing the recognition of the voice in the ear.

  • Patent number: 6348861
Abstract: A binary multi-code combination sensor employs a magnetically coded transmitter and corresponding receiver to add a level of security to conventional low-security alarm systems. The transmitter includes a pattern of magnetic and non-magnetic portions. The receiver includes a series arrangement of magnetically sensitive switches wherein normally open switches are positioned to be held closed by the magnetic portions of the transmitter and normally closed switches are positioned opposite the non-magnetic portions of the transmitter. Added security is provided by the normally closed switches which open in response to attempted tampering using an external magnetic field. Coded sensors increase the difficulty of successfully defeating the sensor using an external magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 4809585
Abstract: A gun equilibrator is shown including a driven shaft connected to the gun which compresses coned-disc springs as movement of the shaft lowers the elevated gun. The shaft is driven by a rotating drive nut that has acme threads engaging similar threads on the driven shaft. The simple design permits the compressed springs to equilibrate the gun while the acme threads absorb recoil forces.

  • Patent number: 4314174
Abstract: A piezoelectric transducer drive for use within a ring laser gyro is shown wherein a resistive element is combined in a negative feedback loop with a second resistive element to provide a feedback signal which is constant with variations in the transducer material and linear with temperature change. The feedback signal is amplified and applied to a comparator whose output is modulated with an AC signal and applied to a power amplifier that drives the piezoelectric transducer for controlling the displacement thereof uniformly over a wide temperature range.
