  • Patent number: 7582063
Abstract: A blood testing apparatus includes a device for withdrawing blood, a membrane-type testing element, an evaluating device, and a display device forming a complete system which can be manipulated as a single piece of apparatus. Multiple testing elements can be inserted into the apparatus and brought successively to a work position for carrying out several measurements. The blood withdrawing device includes multiple pricking elements. One pricking element is pushed through one testing element and pricks the surface of the skin of a user. The pricking position is disposed so that blood withdrawn from the surface of the skin can impinge upon the testing element.

  • Patent number: 7462754
Abstract: A method for producing an absorbent structure and the resulting absorbent structure. The method includes the steps of introducing a thermoplastic polymer into an extrusion apparatus, melting the thermoplastic polymer material having a moisture content of at least 0.5 percent by weight into the extrusion apparatus, and extruding the mixture such that the fluid in the superabsorbent polymer material evaporates as pressure is released and induces foaming of the thermoplastic polymer that bonds the particulate polymer material together to create a matrix.

  • Publication number: 20050194312
Abstract: A filter for filtering a liquid, such as coolant for an internal combustion engine, having a filter housing with at least one liquid inlet and at least one liquid outlet, a filter element which is arranged in a sealing manner between the inlet and outlet so that the filter element separates a filtered liquid side from an unfiltered liquid side, and having an additive or inhibitor disposed in the housing such that when contacted by liquid passing through the filter, the additive is released into the liquid, in which the additive is tightly encased in a liquid-soluble material which dissolves on coming in contact with the liquid being filtered.

  • Publication number: 20030093051
Abstract: The invention relates to a single-use absorbent sanitary article, especially diapers, sanitary napkins, and incontinence articles. The inventive sanitary article comprises an absorbent body (30) that consists of at least two layers, one layer (32) for absorbing, distributing and temporarily storing liquid and facing the body when used, and one storage layer (34) on the side facing away from the body which has a content of at least 50% of superabsorbent polymer material. The inventive layer (32) for absorbing, distributing and temporarily storing liquid is extruded from a thermoplastic polymer to which a blowing agent is added.

  • Publication number: 20030012928
Abstract: The invention relates to an absorbent structure (30, 38, 50, 58, 62, 66) that is produced on the basis of superabsorbent polymer materials. Said superabsorbent polymer materials are interlinked by means of a thermoplastic polymer. The inventive structure is produced by extruding the superabsorbent polymer materials with a moisture content of at least 0.5 wt.-% based on the overall weight of the superabsorbent polymer and evaporating the liquid of the superabsorbent polymer materials and inducing foaming of the structure.
