  • Publication number: 20130199271
Abstract: A method for detecting explosive substance particles in a gas flow includes passing the gas flow through an adsorption net for a specified time period so as to adsorb explosive-substance particles in the gas flow on the adsorption net. The adsorption not includes a microfilter having a pore size that is smaller than the particle size of the explosive-substance particles. The adsorption net is heated to a heating temperature so as to desorb the explosive-substance particles from the adsorption net. A gas flow comprising the desorbed explosive-substance particles is supplied to a detector so as to detect the explosive-substance particles.

  • Publication number: 20120170025
Abstract: An online sensor for monitoring chemical contamination in a phosphate ester-based hydraulic fluid includes a receiving unit for the hydraulic fluid having two viewing windows arranged on opposite sides, an IR emitter, and an IR detector having four detector fields for IR spectroscopy, with the IR emitter and the IR detector being arranged on the two viewing windows in a mutually opposed manner. The online sensor also includes an optical filter having four fields for IR transmission bands with different wave numbers being provided between one viewing window and the IR detector for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the contaminations, wherein a first IR transmission band has a wave number of 3400 cm-1, a second IR transmission band has a wave number of 3500 cm-1, a third IR transmission band has a wave number of 3600 cm-1, and a fourth IR transmission band is provided as a reference field.

  • Patent number: 8184290
Abstract: A device for monitoring particle contamination in flowing hydraulic fluids includes a mechanism for particle counting and particle sizing. Further, a method for monitoring particle contamination in flowing hydraulic fluids: determines fluid flow velocity; counts particles in the hydraulic fluid passing the light barrier for a fixed period of time; and obtains particle size distribution by using a range of different trigger levels. The monitoring device is insertable into an A/C hydraulic system to enable an online-monitoring of degradation of fluid quality during normal flight operations or on the ground. The device and method help lower costs for A/C maintenance and increase A/C availability since necessary service actions can be scheduled strategically.

  • Publication number: 20110263044
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for automatic detection of particles, in particular, biological particles such as micro-organisms. The apparatus has a device for binding the particles to separating particles which can be bound selectively to the particles. The apparatus further includes a separating device for extraction of the separating particles with bound particles from a collecting fluid, and a detection unit for detecting a number and/or concentration of the particles separated in this manner. The device for binding the particles to the separating particles includes a collecting device for collecting a collecting fluid including the separating particles and the particles that are provided by a particle-fluid mixture.

  • Patent number: 8001844
Abstract: A high-temperature pressure sensor element for power units includes a substrate, in which an interior space is developed, a deformable membrane, which separates the interior space from the exterior space in order to deform when the exterior pressure changes, and a strain measuring element, which is arranged on the membrane, for measuring the deformation of the membrane. The substrate, the membrane, and the strain measuring element are manufactured from the same high-temperature-stable material, such as an alloy. By way of example a nickel base alloy may be used. A component for a power unit, such as a turbine blade for an airplane or rocket engine, includes an integrated high-temperature pressure sensor element of this type.

  • Patent number: 7726200
Abstract: An integratable sensor for an airfoil of an aircraft such as an airplane and a helicopter comprises a sensor capsule, in whose inner chamber a measuring element for measuring an environmental parameter is situated. A capsule carrier is implemented to accommodate and removably attach the sensor capsule and is integratable in an airfoil of an airplane or a helicopter. Elastic contact elements are used for secure electrical connection of the sensor capsule to the capsule carrier. The sensor capsule is replaceable, while the capsule carrier is permanently integrated in the airfoil, in particular in a rotor blade. The measuring element is, for example, a pressure sensor.

  • Publication number: 20100026988
Abstract: An online sensor for monitoring chemical contaminations in hydraulic fluids, having a receiving device for the fluid to be monitored, the device having observations windows disposed on two opposite sides, is characterized in that the online sensor has an IR emitter and an IR detector comprising at least two, preferably four detector fields for IR spectroscopy, wherein the fields are disposed opposite of each other on both observations windows. This provides a sensor that is capable of detecting the maintenance-relevant parameters of hydraulic fluids based on phosphate esters online, which is to say without having to withdraw the same from the airplane's hydraulic system and remove the same as a sample.
