  • Patent number: 10668417
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for extracting nucleic acid from a formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded sample comprising a hollow body having an inlet port and an outlet port and a filter layer arranged within the hollow body, wherein the device is characterized in that the filter layer has an oil repellency of at least grade 5 according to the test method by AATCC-118 (1997). The invention further relates to a method for extracting nucleic acids from a formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded sample, and a kit comprising the inventive device.

  • Publication number: 20130041145
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for isolating RNA from a whole blood sample, comprising the steps bringing the sample into contact with an aqueous lysis solution containing at least one lysis substance in a concentration of 1.5 mol/1 to 7 mol/1 and at least one detergent, simultaneously or subsequently adding a proteinase, in particular proteinase K, then incubating the solution for at least partial enzymatic digestion and lysis of the sample so that a lysate is obtained, and isolating the RNA from the lysate.

  • Publication number: 20060237373
Abstract: A vacuum transport system suited to moving FOG-laden water. The system includes a first reservoir and at least one vacuum pump in fluid communication with the first reservoir and operable to produce a vacuum within the first reservoir. A first accumulator is positioned to collect FOG-laden water from a first FOG-laden water source. A first valve is operable to selectively provide fluid communication between the first accumulator and the first reservoir. FOG-laden water can be drained from the first reservoir into a grease interceptor disposed in the building exterior.

  • Publication number: 20050072468
Abstract: A vacuum drainage system operable to remove waste from a source. The system includes an accumulator in fluid communication with the source and a substantially vertical riser having a first portion in fluid communication with the accumulator and a second portion downstream of the first portion and in fluid communication with a vacuum source. A first valve is disposed between the first portion and the second portion. The first valve is selectively operable to provide fluid communication between the first portion and the vacuum source. An air inlet is disposed a distance downstream of the first valve and is selectively operable to provide fluid communication between the outside atmosphere and the second portion.

  • Patent number: 6428703
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for purifying biological macromolecules, e.g. nucleic acids or proteins, from starting materials, in which the macromolecules, contained in a biological solution, are purified on a chromatographic material, and in which endotoxins are partially or completely removed with the aid of a nonionic surfactant, which is characterized in that the surfactant and the biological solution are brought into contact immediately before or during the purification of the macromolecules on the chromatographic material.
