  • Patent number: 11367420
Abstract: The invention relates to a string (1) for a stringed, bowed musical instrument, for example a bowed musical instrument like violin, viola or cello. The string has a first, load bearing core (10) and a winding strand (100) wound around the first core in helical windings. A damping agent (40) suitable for vibration damping is arranged in a profiled recess (150) in the winding strand. The recess is functioning as a reservoir between the first core and the winding strand. The reservoir is containing and/or retaining the damping agent so as to, at least, reduce dissipation of the damping agent through a gap between the adjacent helical windings of the winding strand. The invention results in a longer lifetime with optimum acoustic properties of the string.

  • Patent number: 11361738
Abstract: Method for artificial playing-in of a musical instrument string comprising one or more layers of wire(s) and/or band(s) wound around a core, in which the method comprises use of a flexing process on the musical instrument string during the production or after the winding of the last layer on the musical instrument string, but preferably before grinding of the surface of the musical instrument string, apparatus for artificial playing in a musical instrument string comprising one or more layers of wire(s) and/or band(s) wound around a core, in which said apparatus comprises a string tensioning device for clamping a musical instrument string between two points with a predefined fixed or variable pull force in its longitudinal direction to keep it taut, and a flexing device used during production of a musical instrument string.

  • Patent number: 11293119
Abstract: Musical instrument string or sports racket string, comprising a core which comprises or is composed of a bundle of thermoplastic fibers, wherein at least some thermoplastic fibers of the bundle are at least partially, such as for example in a punctiform or linear manner, connected to one another in a materially integral manner, in particular by fusing on the boundary surfaces, and method for producing said string.

  • Patent number: 8371131
Abstract: Heterogeneous surface with polar functional groups as nucleation points. These nucleation points cause precipitation of a substance, for example ice or salt, in a fluid at these nucleation points under suitable physical conditions because the Gibbs free energy of the system is lower at the nucleation points than between the nucleation points, where said system comprises said surface and said fluid with said substance near said surface.
