Abstract: A terminal structure for an electrical switching device. The terminal structure comprises an integral thin planar member with a external terminal section, a body section, a neck section and an internal contact section all lying along a longitudinal axis. The body section is intermediate the external terminal section and the neck section. The neck section is adjacent the internal contact section that can twist about the neck section to be rotated with respect to the body and external terminal sections. During manufacture, the terminal structure is installed in planar form through a conforming passage in a molded housing. Then the internal contact section is twisted to lock the terminal structure in the housing and to form a seat for a movable contact.

Abstract: A switching assembly for mounting on a pedal has a flat shaped switch actuator constrained to move with a single degree of freedom in a plane parallel to the pedal face. A pressure member at the front of the pedal receives a control force from an operator and as it moves toward the pedal face moves the switch actuator through a cam linkage. The cam linkage includes cam surface extending close to the periphery of the pressure member so that the cam action is effective irrespective of the area of the pressure member pressed by an operator. The switching assembly is effective in changing switch settings of a plurality of switches in a predetermined order as the pedal is pressed irrespective of the point of application of control force to the pressure member.

Abstract: A mechanically actuable switch having associated electronic circuitry contained within the switch housing, including circuitry operative to selectively provide momentary, alternate action, and multistation switching modes. Included within the switch housing are a voltage/current regulator, initializing logic, contact debounce logic, mode control circuitry, output buffers, an LED driver and an LED. The switch contact is typically a preformed wire spring configured to be pivoted about a central point from one state of actuation to another. The switch is operable over a wide operating voltage range, typically 3 to 18 volts.
