Abstract: A method and an apparatus for processing digital content arranged in a container file comprising internal file management information are proposed, which allow to perform processing of the digital content with one or more processing nodes with a reduced delay caused by a transmission of the digital content to the one or more processing nodes. After creating placeholder files with the size of the digital content on storage systems associated to the processing nodes, the internal file management information is transmitted from a data repository to the storage systems and stored at locations within the placeholder files specified by the container file format. Subsequently, content elements of the digital content are transmitted from the data repository to the storage systems and stored at their specific locations within the placeholder files. These stored content elements are then processed with the one or more processing nodes.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for generating metadata for digital content are described, which allow to review the generated metadata already in course of ongoing generation of metadata. The metadata generation is split into a plurality of processing tasks, which are allocated to two or more processing nodes. The metadata generated by the two or more processing nodes is gathered and visualized on an output unit.

Some of the data streams are pre-recorded in a multiplex on a storage medium while other data streams are located out of the data stream multiplex on the storage medium. The data streams are synchronized using a navigation file (List_of_PlayItems), which comprises descriptors (PlayItems, SubPlayItems) pointing to parts of said data streams, wherein said descriptors define the arrangement in time for said data streams by means of data sub stream paths.

Abstract: A video processing apparatus and a method for detecting a temporal synchronization mismatch between at least a first and a second video stream of 3D video content are provided. A motion vector is determined for a group of pixels in consecutive frames of the left or the right video stream. Further, a disparity between the left and the right video stream is determined for the group of pixels, wherein the motion vector and the disparity are determined for a first number of frames and a subsequent second number of frames of the left and the right video stream.

Different versions are for example: an uncensored version and a censored version, a cinema version and a TV-series adaptation version of a same digital content, a version with inserted publicity and a version without, a trailer version and a cinema version, different language-dubbed versions.

Abstract: The invention is made in the field of saliency determination for videos block-wise predictive encoded in a data stream. A method is proposed which comprises using processing means for determining coding costs of transformed residuals of blocks and using the determined coding costs for determining the saliency map. Coding costs of transformed block residuals depend on the vividness of content depicted in the blocks as well as on how-well the blocks are predicted and therefore are good indicators for saliency.

Abstract: Multimedia content of exchangeable storage media, such as optical discs, may be extended by bonus content that is downloaded via Internet connection and stored on a local storage device. An improved method for integration of different menu items relating to on-disc content and downloaded content provides flexibility and a simple, low cost solution. The method for integration of downloaded bonus content into a menu comprises defining one or more placeholders within a menu, determining a storage location or naming convention for bonus content, declaring for each placeholder an attribute providing a unique association to a specific type of bonus content, providing a button image, detecting presence of bonus content data, replacing the associated placeholder by the associated button image and enabling an associated action to be taken when said button is selected.

Abstract: Digital cinema exhibition facilities make use of a show play list (SPL) specifying a time sequence of the events to occur during the presentation of digital cinema content. One or more cues in the show play list trigger certain activities, such as displacing the screen curtain and dimming the house lights. To achieve an aesthetic, showman-like presentation, the cues in the show play undergo re-cuing. For each cue, a determination is made automatically of the prefire interval, that is, the interval by which the cue should be advanced. The execution the cue to trigger a corresponding activity is advanced by the automatically determined pre-fire interval.

A method and system for determining a route/path between two nodes of a wireless network including calculating a weighted radio and load aware metric by each node in the wireless network, storing the metric and using the metric to select the route/path for communication between two nodes of the wireless network based on a sum of the metrics calculated by each node of the wireless network are also described.

Abstract: For writing, flash memory devices are physically accessed in a page-oriented mode, but such devices are not error-free in operation. According to the invention, when writing information data in a bus write cycle in a sequential manner into flash memory devices assigned to a common data bus, at least one of said flash memory devices is not fed for storage with a current section of said information data. In case an error is occurring while writing a current information data section into a page of a current one of said flash memory devices, said current information data section is written into a non-flash memory. During the following bus write cycle, while the flash memory device containing that defective page is normally idle, that idle time period is used for copying the corresponding stored section of said information data from said non-flash memory to a non-defect page of that flash memory device.

Abstract: An implementation exits a power saving mode for fixed and periodic active periods of time to receive a separate burst transmission from a first stream during each of the corresponding active periods of time. The first stream is received at a first-stream burst data rate. The first stream includes data configured to be displayed at a first playback rate that is substantially less than the first-stream burst data rate. During the active periods of time, data is received from a second stream at a second-stream rate. The second stream includes data configured to be displayed at a second playback rate that is substantially the same as the second-stream rate. After receiving each of the burst transmissions from the first stream during the active periods of time, the power saving mode is entered for corresponding fixed and periodic power-saving periods of time while waiting for another burst from the first stream.

Abstract: A unified framework is established based on a domain-specific system description model representative of physical network system topology, network system device capability and/or logical network system structure. The framework can be employed to streamline a network system configuration process and/or a software system deployment process and the like. Some instances can also be utilized in establishing a unified framework in a broadcast equipment environment to augment network system based technologies. Additionally, network devices having multiple network interfaces that are dedicated to specific network usages can be automatically configured. A method in accordance with an aspect of the present principles includes generating a site model with a plurality of groups of device model network interfaces that can represent dedicate networks. The device model interfaces are grouped according to usage and network medium type and are logically associated with pre-defined IP addresses.
