    Abstract: In examples, an electronic device comprises a bus and a microcontroller coupled to the bus. The microcontroller is to encode a pattern in a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal by manipulating a duty cycle of the PWM signal and a duration of the duty cycle and to provide the PWM signal on the bus. The electronic device comprises a display panel and a timing controller (TCON) coupled to the display panel and to the microcontroller via the bus. The TCON is to control a brightness feature and a non-brightness feature of the display panel based on the pattern encoded in the PWM signal.
