Patent number: 8742945Abstract: A method for controlling traffic signals to give signal priority to a vehicle travelling along a planned route, which is divided into sections. The method comprises the steps of receiving a report from the vehicle which comprises at least the next few sections along the planned route, determining whether the reports contain at least one section on both sides of an intersection, and, if this is the case, controlling the traffic light at the intersection to give priority to the route through the intersection, for the vehicle to enjoy signal priority treatment. According to the invention, a signal priority method is provided which allows the planned route of the vehicle to be predicted well in advance. The possibility of advance planning is obtained by describing the planned route of the vehicle in terms of predefined sections of the route.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2008Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: AB TryggitInventor: Thore Brynielsson

Patent number: 7945381Abstract: A method is disclosed for communication between a vehicle travelling along a route and a stationary system. The vehicle is equipped with a communication unit to communicate messages to the stationary system. The method includes dividing the route into a plurality of partial sections, defining for each partial section a required information flow from the vehicle, and adapting the communication to this definition. The method makes it possible to command the communication unit to communicate with correctly adjusted accuracy. This also improves the possibility of effectively utilizing the traffic information in local units, for instance for displays and traffic signals.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2004Date of Patent: May 17, 2011Assignee: AB TryggitInventor: Thore Brynielsson

Publication number: 20100045484Abstract: A method for controlling traffic signals to give signal priority to a vehicle (6) travelling along a planned route (9), which is divided into sections (A-J). The method comprises the steps of receiving a report from the vehicle which comprises at least the next few sections along the planned route, determining whether the reports contain at least one section on both sides of an intersection, and, if this is the case, controlling the traffic light at the intersection to give priority to the route through the intersection, for said vehicle to enjoy signal priority treatment. According to the invention, a signal priority method is provided which allows the planned route of the vehicle to be predicted well in advance. The possibility of advance planning is obtained by describing the planned route of the vehicle in terms of predefined sections of said route.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2008Publication date: February 25, 2010Inventor: Thore Brynielsson

Patent number: 7375895Abstract: A device is disclosed for displaying information in a vehicle. The device includes a unit for creating a real image containing information relevant to a driver, to be reflected in a reflective viewing surface located directly above the field of vision actively used by the driver to survey the traffic situation, and thereby generating a virtual image. The device further includes a second reflecting surface provided behind or beside the driver's head, with the driver in his or her normal position, at essentially the same level as the viewing surface or higher, an end section of an optical path between the unit and the viewing surface in use extending between said second reflecting surface and the viewing surface. By the optical path extending at least partly in the upper part of the driver's cab, a relatively long (several meters) optical path can be obtained without the need for complex mirror systems.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2005Date of Patent: May 20, 2008Assignee: AB TryggitInventor: Thore Brynielsson

Patent number: 7046958Abstract: The invention concerns a system and a method of radio communication between a plurality of mobile units (6) and a stationary system (1, 3, 12, 14) comprising one or several transmitter units (3), wherein radio communication to one or several mobile units (6) is effected by broadcasting from one of said emitter units (3) on a first, public frequency. The stationary system further comprises a plurality of stationary receiver units (12), said units being connected to a central unit (1) via a common data communication network (14), radio communication from the mobile units (6) being effected by transmitting on a second, public frequency a burst of radio messages (25) that are receivable only by a small number of receiver units (12). From the receiver units (12) the messages are forwarded via the data communication network (14) to the central unit (1), which selects one of the forwarded messages and reads the data contained in the message.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: AB TryggitInventor: Thore Brynielsson

Patent number: 6947727Abstract: A method and a system is directed to authentication of a commission from a customer to a service provider. A set of randomly generated code words are stored in a memory circuit associated with a mobile-telephone subscription in a mobile telephone, as well as in a database together with an association to the mobile-telephone subscription. The method includes the steps of determining the identify of the customer, of identifying the mobile-telephone subscription on the basis of the identity of the customer, of retrieving a code word from the memory circuit, and of checking the presence of the code word in the code word set in the database that is associated with the mobile-telephone subscription, in order to thus authenticate the commission.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2000Date of Patent: September 20, 2005Assignee: AB TryggitInventor: Thore Brynielsson

Patent number: 6862522Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for automatically establishing an updating a table of distances by means of a vehicle which is equipped with a computer unit and a trip meter, which vehicle is driven along a route extending past a group of predetermined stops which are represented in a list stored in a computer unit. Each time the vehicle stops at a stop, the computer unit receives from the trip meter data which represents a distance that has been covered since the preceding stop. If the list lacks information about said distance, the data is stored in the list associated with the current location, whereas if the list already contains information about said distance, the data is allowed to affect the information by suitable statistical processing. By means of this method, a table of distances is automatically established, and is also updated each time the vehicle stops at a location along the route.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2001Date of Patent: March 1, 2005Assignee: Thoreb ABInventor: Thore Brynielsson

Patent number: 6556900Abstract: The invention relates to a method of storing information in the form of signals from a control system in a vehicle, said method comprising the step of reading a signal on recurrent sampling occasions and increasing the value of a counter which represents a signal value interval. The method further comprises the steps of measuring on each sampling occasion a change of the signal in relation to a previous signal value, comparing change with the threshold value, and, if the change is greater than the threshold value, increasing the value of a counter associated with this threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2001Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Thoreb ABInventor: Thore Brynielsson
