  • Patent number: 9172446
Abstract: A method and apparatus for an access point (AP) accessing a channel occupied by a neighboring AP within clear channel assessment (CCA) range. The method is implemented by setting a transmit null towards the neighboring AP, while acquiring accurate channel knowledge with minimal bandwidth penalty to surrounding networks, via a combination of sparse explicit sounding, and a following implicit channel estimation of the neighboring APs for updating the explicit data achieved by the sparse explicit sounding. An AP implementing the method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9172454
Abstract: A system and method for compensating phase differences between multiple local oscillators and group delay differences between multiple transceivers. The system may include; an antenna array; a plurality of transceivers connected to said antennas and operatively associated each with a local oscillator (LO), wherein at least some of the transceivers do not share a common LO, and wherein at least some of the LOs are using a common reference oscillator; a common digital beamformer circuit connected to the transceivers; a baseband processor configured to operate the system at a specified communication scheme; and a calibration circuit and software modules configured to eliminate or reduce mismatches and phase deviations between the different transceivers, wherein the calibration circuit and software modules are incorporated in system such that the elimination or reduction of mismatches and phase deviations is non-interrupting with a continuous operation of the system at the specified communication scheme.

  • Patent number: 9100968
Abstract: A method and system may include a plurality of collocated access points (APs), each coupled to, and operating independently with, a respective set of antennas, wherein the antennas are directional and oriented to create beams that cover different directions, for dividing a coverage of the APs into a plurality of subsectors, wherein the antennas further comprise transmit antennas and receive antennas separated from each other, wherein the APs operate with a limited number of channels, wherein two or more of the subsectors share a common channel, wherein the APs are configured to initiate a transmission by employing collision sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA), wherein the antennas are configured to enable simultaneous operation of each of the subsectors without impairing operation of the others, and wherein a radio frequency (RF) energy reception between the transmit antennas and the receive antennas is configured to prevent independent subsector operation because of the CSMA/CA.

  • Patent number: 5539803
Abstract: A cordless telephone set advantageously includes a wireless test mode accessible by a user for evaluating performance levels of operating parameters in the cordless telephone set in diverse geographical locations. When configured in a normal operating mode, the cordless telephone set provides normal wireless communications. When configured in the wireless test mode, the cordless telephone set provides audible and visual input to its user for use in determining a maximum acceptable separation distance for satisfactory communications between a telephone handset unit and its associated base unit in the cordless telephone set. This operating range determination for the cordless telephone set is achieved by providing a simulation of a recognizable tone, such as dial tone, to which a user subjectively listens while testing an application environment.
