  • Publication number: 20220204633
Abstract: A polypeptide comprising a crystallizable fragment (Fe) region of IgG for use in prevention or treatment of a disease, in particular of a disease affecting the central nervous system. The polypeptide is administered locally to compartments, in particular to the central nervous system. The Fe region comprises the mutations I253N and H435Q and an H at position 310 resulting in reduced affinity to the neonatal Fe receptor (FeRn), resulting in an increased brain to serum concentration of the polypeptide.

  • Publication number: 20220195051
Abstract: A polypeptide comprising a crystallizable fragment (Fc) region of IgG for use in prevention or treatment of a disease, particularly a disease affecting the central nervous system. The polypeptide is administered locally to the affected compartment, in particular to the central nervous system. The Fc region bears a modification resulting in reduced affinity to the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), resulting in an increased brain to serum concentration of the polypeptide.

  • Publication number: 20220025454
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for predicting mycobacterial drug resistance by isolating mycobacterial nucleic acid from a sample, obtaining a sample sequence from the nucleic acid, aligning and comparing the sample sequence to a reference sequence and determining for each reference position whether the sample sequence value is the same as a particular sequence value assigned to the position in a table. If both values are the same, a position weight value is assigned to the position. A predictor value is obtained by adding all position weight values and the predictor value is compared to a threshold value. If the predictor value is smaller than the threshold value, drug resistance is predicted. The invention encompasses a system for practicing the method, and the use of certain antibacterial drugs to treat infections by pathogens, resistance of which has been determined by the method of the invention.

  • Patent number: 8633348
Abstract: The present invention provides a genetically-modified non-human animal whose somatic and germ cells contain an exogenous gene encoding a recombinant fusion protein, wherein the presence, and expression, of said recombinant fusion protein renders said genetically-modified non-human animal sterile. Tools for generating such sterile genetically-modified non-human animal as well as methods of use thereof are also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 2010
Date of Patent: January 21, 2014
Assignees: Novartis Forschungsstiftung, Zweigniederlassung, Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research, Universität Zürich
