    Abstract: Pyrotechnic signaling means (10) are ignited manually by pulling on a pulling member (24). In known pyrotechnic signaling means (10), the pulling member (24) has a short cable which is knotted to an operating means (26). A knot such as this can be produced only manually, thus making the production of pyrotechnic signaling means (10) quite complex. In addition, an ignition device (14) for known pyrotechnic signaling means (10) has a hole through it for a firing bolt (36) which is connected to the pulling member (24). This allows moisture to enter the pyrotechnic signaling means (10) through the ignition device (14). The pyrotechnic signaling means (10) according to the invention provides for the pulling member (24) to be formed from flexible strip-like sections (48, 50), which are connected by film hinges (54) and can be collapsed, saving space, when not in use.

The use of a cost-effective light-emitting diode (56) and a battery (64) formed in space-saving fashion in accordance with the low power demand of the light-emitting diode (56) permits a compact configuration of the luminous unit (24). The fact that the luminous unit (24) can be inserted into the floating body (22) as a unit and can be exchanged as a unit obviates a complicated battery change or change of luminous means entailing the risk of leaks.

There is a danger that, when pivoting the receiving plate for closing the firing apparatus, the projectile simulation means drop out of the receiving plate.According to the invention, the projectile simulation means are provided with spring tongues (27) which project from the outside of the casing (11) and are pressed together when pushing-in the projectile simulation means into the receiving plate. In this manner, the spring tongues (27) are resiliently preloaded, as a result of which they hold the projectile simulation means in the receiving plate in a hook-lie manner.

    Abstract: Gas generators having mechanical triggering have a cylindrical casing in which the various component parts are accommodated. The assembly of known gas generators is rather complex because of the different component parts. In the gas generator according to the invention the individual component parts are distributed in such a manner that essentially three units are formed, namely a priming agent, a pyrotechnic charge and an ignition unit comprising a holder means and an ignition charge. The priming agent is separated from the pyrotechnic charge by the ignition unit. The gas generator constructed in this way permits simple charging of the casing with the priming agent, the pyrotechnic charge and the ignition unit.
