  • Patent number: 10351116
Abstract: A pneumatic brake booster for motor vehicles, comprises a booster housing, the interior of which is separated into a working chamber and a low-pressure chamber by an axially movable wall that can be supplied with a pneumatic differential pressure; a control housing; and a control valve which controls a differential pressure between the working chamber and the low-pressure chamber. The control valve controls an airflow between the working chamber and the low-pressure chamber or a surrounding atmosphere. The control valve has a plate valve and a valve piston, a seal region of which can be sealingly placed on the plate valve and which can be moved in a stroke direction R. A fine and low-noise metering of the brake force is achieved by providing a throttle point between the valve piston and the plate valve for throttling the airflow dependent on the stroke.

  • Patent number: 9050960
Abstract: A pedal prop for imposing a load on a brake pedal, in particular in motor vehicles, in order to apply the pressure necessary during sealing tests on components of the brake system, comprising a movable part, which changes the length of the pedal prop by moving in and out, and a fixed part, wherein the movable part is supported on a point of support on the motor vehicle. According to the invention, an evaluation and control unit is provided as an integrated element, which controls an actuator in order to provide an actuating force, wherein a displacement sensor and a force sensor are provided, by which a travel and an actuating force of the actuator can be sensed.

  • Patent number: 9016806
Abstract: A brake actuating unit for actuating a motor vehicle braking system of the “brake-by-wire” type having a brake booster. In order to provide a brake actuating unit for actuating a motor vehicle braking system of the “brake-by-wire” type, which on the one hand fulfills the statutory requirements care and which on the other hand is inexpensive to produce, it is proposed according to aspects of the invention, that the brake booster be provided as a travel-controlled brake booster, so that when not in the “brake-by-wire” operating mode the brake pedal is decoupled from feedback forces of the brake actuating unit, and the return force is simulated by the pedal travel simulator even when not in the “brake-by-wire” operating mode.

  • Patent number: 8561520
Abstract: A brake servo whose valve piston has a concentric sealing seat which projects axially beyond a second sealing seat, with the concentric sealing seat having at least one recess for throttling the air volume flow. The controllability and also the noise characteristics of the brake servo can be improved in this way.

  • Patent number: 6516701
Abstract: The present invention relates to a brake force booster for automotive vehicles which includes a booster housing whose interior space is subdivided by a movable wall into a working chamber and a vacuum chamber, and a control housing which carries the movable wall and in which a control valve is arranged for controlling a pressure differential that acts upon the movable wall, the said control valve being operable by an operating rod by way of a valve piston and by an electromagnet. According to the present invention, the brake force booster is characterized in that the electromagnet is actuatable in dependence on the relative displacement between the valve piston and the control housing detected by a sensor. This arrangement makes possible a very simple control of a brake assist function because the signal of the sensor can be used both for the activation and the deactivation of the electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 5979292
Abstract: In a method of operating an electromechanically actuatable pneumatic brake booster, an electromagnet which actuates a sealing seat of its control valve is energized in an interval by a short current pulse of maximum current strength with a subsequent ramp-like current rise, and the current being furnished to the electromagnet is decreased when a fixed value of the pressure that prevails in a master brake cylinder connected downstream of the brake booster is reached. When the hydraulic pressure introduced into the master brake cylinder reaches a nominal value, the current being furnished to the electromagnet is supplied by a pressure controller which maintains the hydraulic pressure constant.
