  • Publication number: 20230142847
Abstract: The controller of a wearable device is used to determine swim characteristics of a swimmer. The controller is connected to at least one motion sensor selected from a group including a multi-axis gyroscope and a multi-axis accelerometer. The controller is adapted to detect input signals from the at least one motion sensor. The controller is further configured to perform dynamic stroke segmentations based on at least one of the input signals using a stroke segmentation module, extract feature vectors, using feature extraction module, from the at least one input signal based on the stroke segmentations, and determine the swim characteristics by using the feature vectors through a classifier module. The controller dynamically adapts to a style of the swimmer to detect the swim characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20110179850
Abstract: A calibration method is provided for a motion sensor, in particular a pedometer, a first acceleration signal being measured as a function of an acceleration parallel to a first direction in a first calibration step, a second acceleration signal being measured as a function of an acceleration parallel to a second direction in a second calibration step, and an acceleration vector being ascertained from the angle between the first and the second acceleration signal in a third calibration step, and a phase angle between the acceleration vector and the first direction being determined in a fourth calibration step for determining a calibration signal.

  • Patent number: 7958962
Abstract: A device is proposed for detecting a collision of a vehicle with an obstacle, in which an ultrasonic receiver unit is used to detect the sound produced by the collision, and a collision of the vehicle is thus detected through the evaluation of the ultrasonic signals.

  • Patent number: 7786926
Abstract: A radar system for motor vehicles, having a radar sensor and an evaluation device for measuring distances and relative velocities of objects in the surrounding field of the vehicle, and a collision detection device, which, on the basis of the measured distances and relative velocities, recognizes an imminent collision and delivers data on the expected time of collision and the impact velocity to a precrash system. The radar sensor is switchable by the collision detection device to a velocity measurement mode in which a more precise measurement of the relative velocity is made.

  • Patent number: 7268675
Abstract: To protect vehicle occupants in dangerous situations, the distance of the vehicle to a roadside object, such as a guardrail, etc., is determined and compared to a critical distance. If the actual distance is less than the critical distance, alarm devices are triggered and/or reversible restraining devices are deployed. The critical distance may be determined as a function of the host vehicle velocity.
