  • Patent number: 4497490
Abstract: A board game apparatus is disclosed having a board with marked spaces or areas constituting a path of progression around the board. The apparatus includes token money as a medium or indicia of payment. Movement of playing pieces is by chance. Spaces or areas on the board provide instructions for further movement or the mode of exchange of tokens between or among the players. Cards are provided having selected values and are used by the players to challenge and to play competitively with each other. Strategy of play depends upon position on the board and the cards available to the players. Payments from one player to another may result from winning or losing a challenge situation or by chance as dictated by the indicia on a player's position on the board. The game involves a combination of chance or luck and skill in managing the cards drawn.

  • Patent number: 4274220
Abstract: A fishing lure is provided which is snag-free and equipped with pivotted hooks retracted elastically within the body of the lure and movable outside the lure by action of a fish biting and pulling thereon. The lure comprises a body portion having a plurality (preferably four) hooks pivotally mounted therein and movable between a retracted position within and an extended position outside said body. The hooks are normally held in the retracted position by suitable elastic means, such as a rubber band, and moved to an extended position outside the body portion of the lure by longitudinally movable actuating means secured and guided in the body portion and actuated by a fish biting and pulling thereon. The fishing lure is particularly characterized by the fact that the hooks are always biased elastically toward the retracted position and at no point are spring-loaded outward and further in the particular features of construction that permit simultaneous actuation of four fishing hooks.

  • Patent number: 4274123
Abstract: An animal repellant apparatus, particularly for protecting trash cans, comprises a mat of rubber, plastic, or other elastomeric material equipped with a system of wires and a source of electric current for shocking and repelling animals. The mat has at least one central opening to receive a trash can and a switch actuated by placing a trash can in position. The mat has a plurality of parallel grooves and ridges in the upper surface thereof with drainage holes extending through the bottom of the grooves to assist in draining off rainwater. A system of wires is provided on the surface of said ridges and a source of electric power provided to energize the wires sufficiently to shock an animal without killing it and without danger to humans, adult or child. The electric power source is connected to the wires so that alternate wires are connected to one side or the other side thereof whereby any animal stepping thereon will be shocked and repelled therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4272075
Abstract: A novel fishing game comprises a rectangular supporting structure having a plurality of target holes along one part of the upper surface thereof and having a supporting base portion with slots therein for movement of a slidable supporting member for fishing poles. The support is arranged to permit movement laterally and longitudinally in the slots to position the fishing pole over the target holes. The support permits angular movement of the fishing poles and includes a rotary spool for raising and lowering a fishing line. The fishing line carries a magnetic member which may be lowered through any of the target holes to pick up magnetized, i.e. iron or steel, fish. The fish which are the targets of the game and the expedient of scoring the same are positioned in cylindrical receptacles located under each of the target holes.

  • Patent number: 4261574
Abstract: A game apparatus comprising a novel game board and playing accessories is suitable for play by two persons in a short period of time. The game board comprises an elongated board divided into checkered squares of three different colors and having base strips at opposite ends of the board and a neutral strip across the center of the board from side to side. There are positioned at the base strips at opposite ends of the board the playing pieces of each player. The board simulates a space war. The playing pieces are of three distinct types, command ships, cargo ships and fighter ships. Movement of the pieces is first from the base strip onto the playing area of the board, with additional playing pieces being moved into the base strip as spaces are available. Movement of the pieces is determined by three dice having distinctive indicia. One die has the numerals 1, 2 and 3 thereon. A second die has indicia for the three different playing pieces.
