  • Patent number: 4455745
Abstract: A method and device for selectively removing the outer insulating jacket from a shielded multi-conductor cable without damaging either the shielding or the conductors. A portion of a shielded cable to be terminated is positioned in the device which secures it while cutting the jacket transversely about its entire periphery but only partially through its depth. After one or more transverse cuts are made, the jacket is cut longitudinally between the transverse cuts and the severed portion peeled away to expose the conductive shield.

  • Patent number: 4420882
Abstract: A connector assembly is disclosed having both the capability of being mass terminated and for effecting zero insertion force mating with conductive holes of a printed circuit board or the like. The subject connector system includes a pair of identical housing members, each of which receives a plurality of terminals therein, and a pair of hermaphroditic cover members. Each housing member is an elongated member of insulative material having a mating face and a plurality of terminal receiving passages opening onto the mating face. The terminals each have a first end lying within the housing and capable of effecting mass termination of individual conductors by insulation displacing means and a second end extending from the mating face of the housing in resilient cantilever beam fashion. Each of the hermaphroditic cover members encloses a respective one of the housing members to form a complete subassembly.

  • Patent number: 4294370
Abstract: A screw-type closure molded of resilient plastic is provided with an internal thread having a smaller axial pitch spacing than the mating external thread of the container with which it is used, the difference between the two threads being designed to compensate for a number of variables affecting sidewall characteristics around the circumference of the closure, in order to secure more uniform application of sealing pressure and other advantages.

  • Patent number: 4241842
Abstract: A resilient plastic screw-type closure, for use with any of a number of standard container top designs, is molded with a plurality of indicating members comprising a detachable lower rim of the closure. As initially molded, the indicating members are outside the principal external contours of the closure, but after installation on the container they are tilted inward until retained by locking means within the principal contours. In this condition they are positioned underneath an annular shoulder formed around the neck of the container. Thereafter, the closure cannot be removed, or substantially loosened, without partially or wholly detaching the indicating members from the body of the closure.

  • Patent number: 4064984
Abstract: Releasable device for fastening a unitary typewriter print head or other printing device to its mounting are disclosed. A manually-operated control lever on top of the print head effects the closing or opening of a pair of locking levers, to engage them with or release them from a retaining groove in the mounting post. The locking arms are displaced toward or away from the retaining groove by cam action in the form of journal bearings in the control lever, which are rotated in a conical path with respect to the pivot axis of the lever.
