  • Patent number: 9075696
Abstract: A test and measurement apparatus, system, and method for synchronizing an acquisition or triggering system to a specific burst of interest. The subject apparatus and method triggers on varying energy content of a signal qualified by time in the presence of high-frequency input signal bursts, by using an adjustable pulse width envelope detector, disposed in the signal path of the trigger circuitry, as a digital rectifier or to otherwise process and extract an envelope signal. An RF envelope probe having an analog envelope detector among other suitable components is disclosed. A method is implemented for isolating an interval of interest in a signal under test. An envelope detector circuit produces an envelope signal from the signal. Trigger circuitry receives the envelope signal from the envelope detector, and isolates the interval of interesting in the signal under test using the envelope signal.

  • Patent number: 8793536
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include methods, apparatuses, and systems for automatically identifying a synchronization sub-pattern associated with a test pattern. A test and measurement instrument is triggered in response to a first instance of a trigger pattern in a data stream. A trigger-to-trigger counter begins counting at the time of the first trigger event. The test and measurement instrument is again triggered in response to a second instance of the trigger pattern in the data stream. The count is ended at this time. The count is then compared to a predefined length of the test pattern, and if equal, it is automatically determined that the trigger pattern is the unique synchronization sub-pattern associated with the test pattern.

  • Patent number: 8484375
Abstract: A method may include updating a routing table on a first network element based on a shortest path first calculation in response to a network change event. For each deletion from the routing table, a message may be broadcasted to a second network element adjacent to the first network element indicative of such deletion, the message including a target identifier (TID) associated with such deleted entry, wherein the second network element is configured to invalidate its associated TID address resolution protocol (TARP) cache in response to receiving the message. For each deletion from the routing table, a local TARP cache of the first network element may be searched to determine if an entry exists in the local TARP cache mapping the TID associated with such entry to a NASP associated with such entry. The local TARP cache may be invalidated in response to determining that the entry exists.

  • Patent number: 8054757
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for evaluating an effect of a simulated communication network to media data. The method includes encoding media data to produce a plurality of packets, each packet being associated with a packet index number, a packet size and a packet transmission time. The packet index number, packet size and packet transmission time for each of the plurality of packets can be input to a communication network simulator to create trace packets corresponding to the plurality of packets. The communication network simulator output indicates at least one effect of the simulated communication network to input trace packets.

  • Patent number: 7979198
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for monitoring vehicular traffic congestion through the use of inter-vehicle communication and traffic chain counters. Data packets including counter, vehicle identification, direction, location, and speed information are transmitted between vehicles via short-range wireless communications. A receiving vehicle edits a data packet if the data packet reflects that the receiving vehicle has not yet edited the packet and is traveling in substantially the same direction as the vehicle which transmitted the packet to the receiving vehicle. If a receiving vehicle is the last vehicle to edit a packet, the receiving vehicle transmits a reporting packet to a traffic monitoring server via long-range wireless communications.
