  • Patent number: 5356443
Abstract: A process for enhancing the thermal and/or photochemical stability of dyeings on dimensionally stabilised polyamide fibres, which comprises treating the polyamide fibre material, before the fixation step for producing defined, resilient forms and dimensions, in aqueous medium with a compound of formula I(A-Y-).sub.n Z(-W).sub.m (1)wherein A, W, Y, Z, n and m are as defined in claim 1.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 7, 1993
Date of Patent: October 18, 1994
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
Inventors: Gerhard Reinert, Thys Bouwknegt, Francesco Fuso
  • Patent number: 5069681
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the photochemical stabilization of dyed polyamide fibre materials, which comprises treating the dyed material with an aqueous foamed composition which contains at least a non-dyeing copper complex of bisazomethines, acylhydrazones, semicarbazones or thiosemicarbazones of aromatic aldehydes or ketones or oximes.By means of the process of this invention it is possible to prevent wastewater from being contaminated with copper-containing impurities.

    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
    Inventors: Thys Bouwknegt, Claude Dietz
  • Patent number: 4859207
Abstract: A process for dyeing textile planar fabrics made from natural or synthetic polyamides with anionic dyes by(a) locally applying a resist agent by itself or in conjunction with an anionic dye of fluorescent whitening agent,(b) subjecting the textiles to a heat treatment, and(c) carrying out ground dyeing with a dye liquor that contains a further anionic dye, which process comprises using, as resist agent, a melamine compound of formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently phenyl or naphthyl, each of which may be substituted by halogen, hydroxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy, Z is an acid water-solubilizing group, and m is 1 to 6.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 19, 1988
Date of Patent: August 22, 1989
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
    Inventors: Thys Bouwknegt, Heinz Abel
  • Patent number: 4514187
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the differential dyeing of such polyamide fibres and materials containing polyamide fibres as are made of components which differ in dyeability, or mixtures of polyamide fibres, with dyes or dye mixtures, which comprises using for dyeing these materials an aqueous liquor which contains a dye of the formula ##STR1## in which A.sub.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 alkyl and R is a C.sub.2-5 -alkanoyl, C.sub.3-6 -alkenoyl, (C.sub.1-4 -alkoxy)carbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, C.sub.1-4 -alkylsulfonyl or phenylsulfonyl radical which can be substituted in the alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, phenoxy or phenyl moiety, or a mixture of a dye of the formula (1) with a monosulfo-containing anthraquinone dye, and to those dyes of the formula (1) in which A.sub.1 is as defined above and R is a C.sub.1-4 -alkylsulfonyl or phenylsulfonyl radical which can be substituted in the phenyl moiety by C.sub.1-4 -alkyl.
