  • Patent number: 7524995
Abstract: A continuous process for producing hexafluoroisopropanol is provided which comprises contacting hexafluoroacetone with hexafluoroisopropanol and hydrogen to produce a liquid feed stream; introducing the liquid feed stream to a reactor containing an immobilized hydrogenation catalyst to convert the hexafluoroacetone to hexafluoroisopropanol and provide a product stream; and recovering at least a portion of the hexafluoroisopropanol from the product stream. Preferably a portion of the product stream is recycled. The reactor can be a packed bed or stirred tank reactor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 12, 2008
Date of Patent: April 28, 2009
Assignee: E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Stephen M. Tieri, John Joseph Hagedom, James Arnold Schultz, Tiberiu M. Leib, Susanne Hawthorne Wolff, Sourav K. Sengupta, Gregory Paul Shankwitz
  • Patent number: 5841008
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the hydrogenolysis of halogenated hydrocarbons containing fluorine together with chlorine and/or bromine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 22, 1997
Date of Patent: November 24, 1998

  • Patent number: 5427745
Abstract: An improved process and apparatus are disclosed for fluidized catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons using a cross-flow or swirl type catalyst regenerator. Instead of a single catalyst withdrawal outlet for regenerated catalyst, multiple catalyst withdrawal points are provided. Use of multiple catalyst outlets, or a continuous radial catalyst outlet, greatly reduces stagnant regions in the bed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 8, 1990
Date of Patent: June 27, 1995
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Tiberiu M. Leib, Ajit V. Sapre
  • Patent number: 5205993
Abstract: An process and apparatus are disclosed for fluidized bed catalyst regeneration in a cross-flow type regenerator. A baffled coked catalyst inlet located within the dense bed of catalyst disperses and distributes coked catalyst flow in a direction generally normal to the direction of flow in the catalyst inlet. The baffle significantly reduces the stagnant regions in the bed.

  • Patent number: 4994424
Abstract: An improved process and apparatus are disclosed for fluidized catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons using a swirl type catalyst regenerator. Multiple, symmetrically spaced spent catalyst inlets are provided for addition of coked catalyst to the regenerator. Preferable a single catalyst outlet, for withdrawal of regenerated catalyst, is provided in the center of the regenerator. Use of multiple symmetrical inlets and a central catalyst outlet greatly reduce stagnant regions in the bed.

  • Patent number: 4684756
Abstract: The waxy liquid phase of an oil suspension of Fischer-Tropsch catalyst containing dissolved wax is separated out and the wax is converted by hydrocracking, dewaxing or by catalytic cracking with a low activity catalyst to provide a highly olefinic product which may be further converted to premium quality gasoline and/or distillate fuel.
