Patent number: 11122531Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for reducing or avoiding interference between communications of one base station-user equipment pair and communications of another base station-user equipment pair. A first user equipment can monitor a timing offset between the communications and send the timing offset to a first base station that services the first user equipment. The first base station time advances a window of time during which it receives uplink signals from the first user equipment. The base station also sends a time advance value and instructions to the first user equipment to advance a window of time during which the first user equipment transmits uplink signals to the first base station. The timing advance value is based on the timing offset value determined by the first user equipment. Thus, a gap period between uplink and downlink windows is increased, thereby reducing interference.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2016Date of Patent: September 14, 2021Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Jibing Wang, Tibor Boros, James Peroulas

Patent number: 10159078Abstract: A method includes receiving a transmission power, a distance from a source base station, and physical cell identifications (PCIs) under mod3 and mod30. The method includes determining a mod3 cost associated with allocating the PCI to the source base station based on the transmit power and the distance of the corresponding neighboring base station, and determining an overall mod3 cost as a summation of the mod3 costs of the neighboring base stations having the same PCI under mod3. The method also includes determining a mod30 cost associated with allocating the PCI to the source base based on the transmit power and the distance of the corresponding neighboring base station, and determining an overall mod30 cost as a summation of the mod30 costs of the neighboring base stations having the same PCI under mod30. The method further includes allocating the PCI having the minimum overall cost to the base station.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2017Date of Patent: December 18, 2018Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Jibing Wang, Tibor Boros

Patent number: 7751854Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for modifying a smart antenna processing strategy determined from a set of signals received at an array of antenna elements of a wireless station, such as a set of weights for processing received antenna signals or forming a set of antenna signals for transmission. The method and apparatus uses the signatures of one or more interferers to produce a modified processing strategy that improves the nulling to the one or more interferers in that, when the modified strategy is applied on the downlink, the transmit signal strength in the direction of the one or more interferers is decreased, and, when the modified strategy is applied on the uplink, the sensitivity to signals from the direction of the one or more interferers is decreased.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2006Date of Patent: July 6, 2010Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Mark C.
